Business Planning & Recovery Trainer

Basmeh and Zeitooneh is a registered Lebanese organization, committed to serving refugees and vulnerable communities in Lebanon, through four community centers across the country. The organization runs educational, relief, livelihoods, and protection programs, and aims to serve as an inclusive and supportive focal point for the entire community.

Job Purpose:

  • The business planning & recovery trainer will deliver the capacity building to 40 local MSEs for the objective of helping them recover from the effects of the Beirut blast. The training will be providing the needed business and marketing skills to help them identify their needs, write a business recovery plan and execute it. This newly acquired set of skills will also help them improve the quality of their work.
  • The trainer has to ensure that a business recovery plan is written by each business owner by the end of capacity-building training sessions.
  • A Pre and Post-Test shall be conducted to verify the acquisition of the new set of skills.
  • The trainer is expected to provide a two-hour session two to three times per week for the duration of 2 months.
  • Moreover, the trainer will be providing a few sessions of business development skills for women producer groups on bookkeeping, pricing, market linkages (participatory approach), sales, communication, marketing, and online marketing using social platforms. The trainer should identify women that have better financial skills, sales, and negotiation skills and recommend them accordingly to start their producer group business.

General Responsibilities: 

  • Introduce participants to business skills such as business planning, marketing, and financial planning, relationship building and relationship management with customers, sales, accounting for small businesses, risk and feasibility assessment, digital business, and strategic planning
  • Dedicate a session during the training to introduce the participants to micro-credit organizations and lending institutions
  • Develop two training manuals: the first one is dedicated participants who can read and write and the second simplified manual to be provided to participants who cannot read
  • Follow-up on the business plans of participants and coach them to develop their small businesses
  • Monitor the progress of participants
  • Deliver the training in Arabic
  • Deliver the training via an online platform
  • Identifying active microfinance institutions and link them to business owners to support businesses recover working capital.
