ROLE PURPOSE: The Case worker will be responsible for implementing activities related to case management targeting vulnerable children and families including refugees, returnees and children in host communities.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
The key roles and responsibilities for the Case Worker are:
- Identification, assessment, referral (to relevant services) and follow-up of at-risk children and families (Case Management) including confidential documentation.
- Participate in weekly case management and coordination meetings
- Conducting regular visits to( schools and CFSs )to work with teachers and animators on the identification and referral of at risk-children
- Provide information on existing social services and how to access them.
- Submit reports weekly reports concerning implemented outreach activities, case load and related challenged
- Maintain files, registers, computer databases and records in paper or electronic format.
- Work as a member of a team ensuring fluid communication of relevant information in order to make sure that work with individual cases is of quality.
- Work across different contexts, including local communities, informal settlements, community spaces etc with a particular focus on outreach work and support in identification, referral and case management of the most vulnerable children (in line with organizational strategy)
- Ensure a strict adherence to the principles of child protection and child safeguarding at all times, including respect for confidentiality and always acting in the best interests of the child.
- In agreement with Project supervisor and Project Manager, perform other required duties within reason (in line with skills and experience).
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Degree in Social Work (desirable), or degree social sciences or development
- Experience in working with at-risk children and families, experience in case management in the emergency response desirable
- Experience in community mobilisation and conducting outreach activities
- Experience in project and team management (desirable)
- Understanding of social welfare systems and child protection mechanisms
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, and either English or French (desirable)
- Ability to write weekly and monthly reports, develop schedules and collect data
- Ability to work under pressure and willingness to work flexible hours in the event of major emergencies
