Dairy Processing Trainer

Basmeh & Zeitooneh is a registered Lebanese organization, committed to serving refugees and vulnerable communities in Lebanon, through four community centers across the country. The organization runs educational, relief, livelihoods, and protection programs, and aims to serve as an inclusive and supportive focal point for the entire community.

Job Purpose : 

The dairy processing trainer will deliver skills building to Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese women with the objective of helping them establish dairy producer groups. The training will be providing the technical skills needed to qualify Women groups of Syrian refugees and host communities residing in urban areas affected by the Beirut Port Blast to generate income by starting their own dairy processing business.

The project will create jobs that generate income for 30 women (15 Syrian, 15 Lebanese), link them to the market, and increase their marketable skills through training on food preservation and food processing.

The trainer is expected to provide a full day session three to four times per week for the duration of 4 months.

Moreover, the trainer should identify women that have better processing skills and recommend them for specific roles in their dairy producer group business.

General Responsibilities:

• Introduce participants to artisanal traditional food preservation and processing techniques
• Extensive Training on the processing of dairy products like Labneh, Baladi Cheese, Halloumi Cheese…etc
• Develop the Final dairy products and fine tune them according to the consumer purchasing behavior
• Training on traditional preserved food produced from milk like Kishek and Labneh Balls preserved in olive oil
• Necessary hygiene training
• Proper packaging training
• Develop two training manuals: the first one is dedicated to participants who can read and write, and the second simplified manual to be provided to participants who cannot read
• Provide detailed processing procedures for the dairy products, from raw material reception to end product sales.
• Monitor the progress of participants
• Deliver the training in Arabic
• Provide technical help in the establishing of creameries for the women producer groups

Qualifications:

• University Degree in Food Technology, Agriculture or in a related field
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills
• Previous experience in providing dairy processing training for marginalized communities
• Understanding and sensitivity to issues affecting vulnerable communities, particularly refugees.
