Education Officer - Beirut

Core Responsibilities

The Education Officer will focus on researching the situation of education of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, taking part in education networks, and overseeing the Basmeh and Zeitooneh support program.

Tasks include but are not limited to:

• Contributing to the development and delivery of successful research projects through background research, Arabic-English translation and field research in and around Basmeh and Zeitooneh’s community centers in Shatila, Bourj al Barajneh, Bar Elias, and North
• Management of the Educational Support Program in Basmeh and Zeitooneh centers in Beirut
• Monitoring right-to-education-related developments in Lebanon to identify potential advocacy opportunities

• Contributing to the development of Basmeh and Zeitooneh’s long-term advocacy strategy
• Contributing to the development of issue-specific advocacy strategies and messaging around regional human rights issues and policy initiatives

In the coming year some of the key topics will be the development of support programs to reduce dropouts.

Education and Skills Required

• Education degree
• Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken) is essential
• Demonstrated knowledge of the situation of Syrian refugees in Lebanon
• A minimum of 1 year of practical experience in Education programs in Lebanon
• Proven knowledge of MEHE school curricula
• Demonstrated creativity, ability to apply innovative thinking and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to conduct both qualitative and quantitative research
• Excellent interpersonal skills and sensitivity in communication with people from different backgrounds
• Excellent analytical, presentation and reporting skills
