Educational Project Manager

Reports to: Community Center Manager – Nabaa

Strategic & Operational Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that activities related to adult and child remedial education, homework support, individual and group counseling sessions are run in line with the project work plan
  • Developing and updating the work plan and communicating its targets, project objectives and activity plans as per the project proposal to the team
  • Creating a timetable for the activities in collaboration with the team
  • Contributing to the outreach effort of the center by identifying and enrolling new participants
  • Communicating with participants in matters relating to enrollment, placement, progress tests and attendance, in collaboration with the team
  • Providing guidance to the team on the delivery of sessions and ensuring they reflect the needs of, and respect for, all participants
  • Monitoring the delivery of the Information Hub and education sessions and giving support to the team in terms of presentation and facilitation
  • Developing the curriculums as necessary with inputs from the teachers and facilitators
  • Keeping records of diversions, challenges, successes and lessons learned provided by the team, and support the team in improving activity implementation
  • Participating in the committee which decides on cash assistance to vulnerable members of the community
  • Keeping updated procurement plans for all necessary equipment and materials is ordered and delivered to the team according to the budget
  • Ensuring that all data related to the project is documented, available and organized upon the request of the Center Manager and M&E team
  • Following up with the protection team to ensure that the case agenda is documented and passed on to the Technical Manager and M&E for review.
  • Coordinating with the Centre Manager and Technical Managers when necessary to respond to the reported challenges and diversions

People Management:

  • Taking the lead in the recruitment of staff in the project team both with the HR assistant and in coordination with the Center and Technical Managers
  • Overseeing performance of all staff and carrying out performance assessments once per year
  • Following up on staff leaves with the team
  • Assessing trainings needs of the team, and identify suitable trainings conducted by international and local partners for their participation. Coordinate with the Technical Managers for technical needs for capacity building and training.
  • Ensure that all the staff are trained in order to able to identify at-risk cases and refer them to the caseworker, using the internal referral form, in coordination with the technical manager

Miscellaneous:

  • Fulfilling reporting requirements, both internally and for the donor
  • Attending meetings, trainings and workshops as required

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Complete and update the work plan in line with the project proposal
  • Conduct performance review for all project staff once per year
  • Compile attendance data and monitor it against donor needs
  • Provide inputs on curriculum development

Delegation of Authority:

  • Make decisions in accordance with the delegation of authority matrix

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in education, protection or other relevant discipline
  • At least two years’ work experience in the NGO sector
  • At least one year’s experience in protection/education field
  • Experience in management
  • Experience leading a team
  • Understanding of the geographical area of intervention
  • Understanding of the overall context of the Syrian crisis
  • Understanding of community’s needs
  • Knowledge of safe referrals, core humanitarian standards and protection and education principles
  • Adherence with B&Z’s policies and procedures
