Job Purpose: 

The GBV Case Worker is responsible for the provision of quality Psychosocial Support and case management, including direct counseling, to GBV survivors, in line with best practice and international standards. They will adhere to the guiding principles of GBV case management, including: maintaining a survivor-centered approach, prioritizing safety concerns, "do no harm," ensuring a non-discriminatory approach, maintaining confidentiality, respecting professional boundaries, and avoiding conflicts of interest.

Major Activities :

  • Detect, counsel, and follow up on individual GBV cases, specifically including cases of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, child marriage, and other forms of GBV, identified by the B&Z team, referred by other agencies, or through community services and protection monitors where applicable.
  • In compliance with practices and international standards in GBV response, provide direct psychosocial support and crisis intervention to vulnerable women, girls, men, and boys, particularly GBV survivors. At all times, ensure the survivor's safety, the confidentiality of their information, and their right to access services without any discrimination.
  • Familiarize with and support cash assistance initiatives, including Emergency Cash Assistance (ECA) and Recurrent Cash Assistance (RCA), where applicable.
  • Provide case management services through high-quality and confidential interventions in line with minimum standards for service provision. This includes risk assessment, needs assessment, development of an action plan for recovery and a safety plan when needed, conducting referrals to relevant services, implementing the action plan, ensuring appropriate follow-up, and case closure when appropriate.
  • The case management process should be implemented through a survivor-centered approach, empowering survivors to access their rights, regain control over their lives, and restore dignity.
  • Ensure coordination and synergy with the main service providers in the area of intervention for prompt referral, follow-up, and confidential information sharing.
  • Maintain accurate and complete case records and store GBV data while ensuring the utmost confidentiality of case management data and information throughout the case management process, including protection referrals.
  • Provide age-appropriate counseling for vulnerable adolescent girls and children through the implementation of tools developed for caring for child survivors and always acting in the best interests of the child.
  • Ensure close coordination with PSS teams to facilitate referrals between case management and focused/community-based PSS.
  • Advocate with different institutions and service providers to help survivors access needed resources and services.
  • Provide daily and weekly updates to the Protection Officer about new cases assessed.
  • Participate in regular supervisory meetings to ensure adherence to standards of care and appropriate case management.
  • Prioritize self-care and stress management to ensure ongoing professional well-being and effectiveness.

Education & Experience:

  • University degree in Social Work, Psychology, or other related fields
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in social work or case management, preferably with GBV survivors
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel)
  • Strong reporting skills, both oral and written
  • Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken)
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly women and children
  • Understanding of and commitment to humanitarian principles and gender equality
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-stress environment
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Training in GBV case management and/or Psychological First Aid (PFA) is a plus
