Basmeh & Zeitooneh is a registered Lebanese organization, committed to serving refugees and vulnerable communities in Lebanon, through four community centers across the country. Job Purpose:
The Project Manager is part of Basmeh & Zeitooneh Food Security and Livelihood Program, the project manager will be reporting to the Food security and livelihoods manager and will be coordinating with the Programs Manager and the food security and livelihood technical manager in addition to the other Departments and units.
The Project Manager will support project participants and stakeholders involved with the project using recommended implementation approaches and methodologies. This position will facilitate participatory planning, implementation, and monitoring of project interventions in close collaboration with partners and stakeholders. The project manager will also coordinate with other partners from the project consortium.
Project Brief :
The project is to contribute to the empowerment of young women through informed decision-making, better employability, and linkages with the private sector in Lebanon. This will be done through high-quality career services and life skills training improving the employability of young women through suitable job placement and/or vocational training and stabilizing micro and small enterprises.
The Livelihoods Project Manager shall be responsible for the:
1. Overall organization and supervision of the activities of the project:
- Planning of activities according to the project work plan
- Recruiting needed project staff and external contractors
- Contribute to the selection of suitable curriculums for required training according to the participant's needs and monitor the training assuring quality.
- Assure quality update of participant’s database and follow-up.
2. Development and strengthening of partnerships with:
- Stakeholders from Lebanese public institutions: ministries, municipalities, chambers of commerce, etc.
- Local CSOs
3. Launching of activities
- Participate in the selection and introduction of training curriculums: technical training, management training for SMEs, technical assistance to young women groups including career services and life skills training, etc.
4. Budget and financial management
- Ensure compliance to B&Z and donors’ financial procedures on the project
- Keep daily track of the expenditures and available funds
- Coordinate and follow up with the B&Z finance unit.
- Regular update of the estimated budget over the total duration of the project (3 years)
5. Project management:
- Ensure timely and quality implementation of the project activities
- Internal and external reporting
- Monitoring of results vs. objectives, according to the project plan
- Manage all required communication for the project
- Represent B&Z in external coordination meetings
- Regular risk assessment through context and situational updates
6. Human resources management:
- Recruitment, management, retention, and training of the project team: skills and knowledge transfer, capacity strengthening
- Team leadership and internal communication
7. Consortium Management
- Participate in grant review and partner meetings.
- Update the consortium partners on B&Z project progress, and be the liaison between B&Z management and the consortium.
Education & Experience:
- University degree in Economics, Business Management, or any other relevant field for the position.
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar position and specifically in career guidance, life skills, vocational training, job placement, and private sector support to micro and small enterprises.
- Fluent in Arabic, with excellent written and verbal English skills and excellent reporting skills;
- Good knowledge and understanding of the socio-economic context in Northern Lebanon Tripoli city and surroundings, BML Shatila refugee camp, and Nabaa (Borj Hammoud area).
- Good interpersonal skills and external relations;
- Strong humanitarian motivation and understanding of international assistance.
