‘‘Basmeh and Zeitooneh’’ is looking to hire a consultant to make an impact assessment for a 4-month peace-building project starting at the end of November Project Description: The assessment will be conducted to determine the impact of a project that aims to establish positive relationships between Lebanese and Syrian communities in northern Lebanon. The project itself will be tailored to the outcome of the successful pilot that we conducted in Qibbeh in 2015-2016. This pilot brought people together through communal work that includes peace education for children and an embroidery program for women. For the upcoming project Basmeh and Zeitooneh will focus on the following:   Psychosocial support modules for teenagers, starting at 15 In the pilot the highest vulnerability was identified amongst teenagers and youth so Basmeh and Zeitooneh will tailor its programs to focus on this vulnerable group. The modules that were used in the pilot proved highly successful in helping children and youth deal with trauma and build positive defence mechanisms, the new modules will focus more specifically on preventing radicalization. Engaging youth in social peacebuilding and community-based initiatives Youth often feel disempowered by protracted conflict, and by the inability to control their lives, and this makes them vulnerable to radicalization. Engaging them in communal initiatives gives them the opportunity to regain a sense of control, and helps them improve their life circumstances.   The project aims to run psycho-social support and social peace-building activities with four groups of fifteen participants aged 15-25. At the end of the project each group will have designed social initiatives that will be implemented in the community. Purpose of the study: The purpose of the assessment is to determine the impact of a 4-month social peacebuilding and youth engagement project with Syrian and Lebanese youth in and around Qibbeh -Tripoli. Desired Qualifications: Certified psychologist and Researcher with Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research, especially: High proficiency in using data analysis programs such as SPSS and Excel Experience with making an assessment design High proficiency in writing scientific reports in both English and Arabic Good written and verbal communication skills Roles and Responsibilities: Formulate objectives and hypothesis Design assessment methodology Design tools of measurement Train facilitators to work with M&E (e.g. focus groups) Analyze the pre-post assessment data Draft a scientific report based on the analyzed data How to apply Please send your curriculum vitae with a cover letter and a 1-page writing sample in English to jobs@basmeh-zeitooneh.org, adding ‘Researcher- Tripoli’ in the subject line.
