Basmeh & Zeitooneh is a registered Lebanese organization, committed to serving refugees and vulnerable communities in Lebanon, through four community centers across the country. The organization runs educational, relief, livelihoods, and protection programs, and aims to serve as an inclusive and supportive focal point for the entire community.
As part of the humanitarian response, an experienced Social worker with a strong background in protection in emergencies programing is required by Bassmeh & Zeitooneh in Lebanon to support the implementation project that aims to deliver protection and livelihoods services to people affected by the Beirut blast and the socio-economic crisis. The project will be directly implemented by Bassmeh & Zeitooneh . Project activities will include the provision of Psychosocial support and psychological first aid, Case Management, internal and external referrals, GBV and protection awareness.
General duties and responsibilities:
- Works directly with women/girls/ at community centers, carrying out Psychosocial support, life skills, and awareness sessions activities with them, involving community members when appropriate.
- Ensures that Protection SOPs are understood, enacted, maintained, and applied.
- Safe identification and referral for protection cases to case management agencies when needed and with taking the Case consent.
- Provide accurate and timely information to beneficiaries about services available including health, psycho-social services, livelihood activities, and others.
- Keep the line manager informed about any difficulty met in activity implementation, and jointly work on troubleshooting and solving the issue.
- Conduct PSS sessions to community members affected by the Beirut blast and the socio-economic crisis.
- Acts in the best interests of beneficiaries including, women and girls, community members, and all people in need.
- Implement outreach activities to engage local communities and maximize the effectiveness of intervention.
- Work closely with the outreach ambassadors to implement activities inside and outside the center.
- Assists, plans, organizes and participates in activities with women.
- Maintain the daily attendance register and monthly inventory sheet.
- Follows security guidelines and procedures.
- Ensures women under her/his responsibility are not exposed to any form of harm or stress during the activities.
Case Management & referrals:
- Contributes to the identification of project targeted women/girls and manage and refer cases when needed.
- Process and follow- up on all referral done in an adequate time frame.
- Mapping and updating relevant service providers and response actors in areas of intervention.
- Coordinate effectively with protection case workers to ensure their presence while providing key protection sessions to women and girls, community members, and all people in need, and facilitate introduction of GBV case management services to session participants.
- Accomplishes other assignments given by supervisors or other professionals intervening in the center.
- Reporting:
- Provide in respect of the following timeline, the program activities (weekly report of daily activities), monitoring tool (weekly filled)
- Report accurate data on weekly and month basis to the line manager.
- Coordinate and draft weekly evaluation report.
- Collect from peers and other social worker information about vulnerable cases.
Skills & knowledge:
- Experience in Humanitarian service provision with knowledge in protection and gender in emergencies and sector standards such as the IASC standards, SPHERE, do no harm, Humanitarian Principles, and the Code of Conduct.
- Experience in programming and promoting issues on protection, GBV, sexual reproductive health (SRH), early child marriage (ECM), women’s voice and/or economic empowerment in preferably an NGO setting is a plus.
- Understanding of Lebanon’s political, legal, and social systems as related to Protection, GBV and refugee protection as well demonstrated experience in working and collaborating with civil society
- Good experience in M&E with focus interacting with and relating to gender professionals and international stakeholders at senior level.
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong internal relationships and networks.
- Motivated self-starter who enjoys working in a collaborative and international environment.
- A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible professional experience is required.
- A minimum of 2 years work experience in implementing programs focused on protection
- Comprehensive knowledge of Protection issues and ad hoc curriculum.
Academic background:
- Bachelor’s degree in one or several of the following areas: International development, social studies, humanitarian assistance, disaster management, economics and development studies, protection related studies.
Languages:
- English and/or Arabic are the working language.
