About the Program:
The Women’s Workshop was one of the first programs set up by Basmeh & Zeitooneh as a way to allow disadvantaged women access to new crafts, a communal social space, and a means of income. Women who join the workshop are trained in embroidery and crochet, before beginning to work on intricately designed pieces, which are then made into purses, wallets, scarves and other pieces, and then sold through our channels. Profits we make from sales are then fed back into the workshop, while the women make an income depending on how many pieces they produce that month, and the intricacy of each piece.
