The Position
The Social Worker and PSEA Focal Point role integrates providing direct social support to individuals, families, and communities with leading Beit el Baraka’s efforts to prevent and respond to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA). This position ensures that vulnerable populations receive tailored support within a safe, survivor-centered, and accountable organizational environment. All social work and community engagement activities adhere to PSEA principles, safeguarding confidentiality, dignity, and protection for beneficiaries.
Key responsibilities include counseling, community engagement, training and awareness-raising, policy development or updates as required, data collection, monitoring and reporting, helpline support, and representing the organization in PSEA networks.
Essential Responsibilities
Social Work:
- Conduct initial screenings and assessments of individuals, families, groups, and communities to identify vulnerabilities and evaluate needs based on established criteria.
- Facilitate support groups and provide counseling to families, helping them understand, cope with, and support their children and community members.
- Identify individuals with special needs, including mental health concerns, and provide appropriate support or referrals to specialized services.
- Provide individual and group support, awareness activities, and community programs tailored to beneficiaries’ needs.
- Monitor and follow up with beneficiaries to track progress, ensure appropriate support, and integrate protection measures; identify and address any SEA risks or allegations in line with internal PSEA protocols and ensuring timely support to beneficiaries.
- Connect beneficiaries with relevant services, including Beit el Baraka programs and external NGOs, ensuring timely and appropriate assistance.
- Plan and implement community activities addressing local needs, such as open days, clubs, volunteer initiatives, and awareness events.
- Document SEA-related observations and record them in PSEA monitoring and reporting systems.
- Organize and conduct training sessions for community volunteers and assist with distributions as required.
- Lead participatory, community-based initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders, applying trauma-informed and inclusive approaches.
- Maintain accurate records, complete timely data entry, and produce reports on program activities, outcomes, and community impact.
- Draft or contribute to relevant social support, community engagement, and protection policies or guidelines when needed.
- Participate in all relevant trainings, workshops, and meetings, and promote a culture of learning and accountability.
Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA):
Protection & Allegation Handling:
- Serve as the primary channel for receiving SEA allegations, ensuring proper reporting, referral, and follow-up according to internal procedures.
- Ensure access to survivor support services and liaise with relevant agencies as needed.
- Promote a culture of zero tolerance for SEA within the organization.
- Ensure confidentiality of all sensitive information, secure storage, and compliance with data protection policies.
- Integrate protection principles in Social Work activities, ensuring beneficiaries’ safety during case management and community engagement; follow internal PSEA protocols for any identified SEA risks or allegations.
- Manage helpline inquiries respectfully and professionally, ensuring confidentiality and prioritizing protection principles.
Prevention & Risk Management:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive PSEA strategy and action plan aligned with international standards and organizational policies.
- Conduct regular risk assessments within Beit el Baraka projects to identify areas or beneficiary groups at higher risk of exploitation and abuse.
- Use insights from Social Work casework, beneficiary follow-ups, and community engagement to inform PSEA risk assessments, identify emerging vulnerabilities, and adjust prevention measures accordingly.
- Design and deliver PSEA training and awareness programs for staff, partners, beneficiaries, and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure all new hires receive PSEA induction and periodic refresher training.
- Create and disseminate awareness-raising materials and facilitate community events emphasizing rights, SEA definitions, reporting obligations, and available support services.
Monitoring, Reporting & Data Management:
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of PSEA measures and recommend improvements.
- Compile, analyze, and report on PSEA-related incidents and trends to management and donors.
- Maintain PSEA-related data, including referrals and follow-ups with beneficiaries, ensuring confidentiality, proper filing, and timely reporting to management and donors.
Policy, Compliance & Representation
- Draft or update PSEA-related policies, guidelines, or procedures when required.
- Ensure compliance with the organization’s policies, Code of Conduct, and operational procedures.
- Stay updated on international PSEA standards and best practices.
- Represent Beit el Baraka in Lebanon PSEA network meetings, actively contributing to network action plans and reporting back to the organization.

Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Humanitarian Development or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience with local or international NGOs.
- Strong understanding of humanitarian principles and processes.
- Contextual knowledge of local communities and sensitivity to diverse social, cultural, and high-risk contexts.
- Knowledge of Protection and PSEA principles, GBV programming, and case/complaint management; Psychological First Aid (PFA) is an added advantage.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills for internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong reporting and documentation skills.
- Motivated self-starter capable of working collaboratively in local and multicultural environments.
- Ability to effectively disseminate information, explain accountability tools, and contextualize communication.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Demonstrates genuine care, respect, and commitment to empowering vulnerable populations.
- High integrity and transparency in professional conduct.
- Excellent English and Arabic oral and written communication skills

Beit el Baraka Team members represent the agency both during and outside of work hours when deployed in a field posting or on a visit. Team members are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and respect local laws, customs and Beit el Baraka’s policies, procedures, and values at all times and in all in-country venues.
Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions
The position is based in Beirut, Lebanon, it requires up to 40% of local field movements to various regions in the country and which may include travel to insecure locations where freedom of movement is limited and areas where amenities are limited.
