Call for experts – PHEMAC Go2Market Hackathon

Context & Background

The PHEMAC project is co-funded by the European Union under the PRIMA program. This project consists of creating an interactive IHUB platform which aims to capitalize on the results and best practices of the innovative projects carried out and those in progress linked to NEXUS and more particularly in the fields of water and agriculture in the Euro-Mediterranean region. PHEMAC will focus on best practices and projects related to farming system, water and food. PHEMAC has been designed considering already defined strategic priorities to develop the framework for cooperation in the MPC region and face future Water Ecosystem, Food and their NEXUS challenges through an open innovation approach supported by an enhanced public-private sector cooperation. Berytech is an implementing partner in Lebanon of the PHEMAC project and activities.

SCOPE OF WORK AND REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. Bootcamp:
  • The trainers selected will deliver an intensive bootcamp during 5 days on commercialization strategies of innovation, growth strategies, go2market strategies in the Water Energy Food Nexus sector, in the Mediterranean region, adding personal input and complementary suggestions to meet the desired outcome.
  • Up to 24 projects from 8 countries: Lebanon, Egypt, France, Morocco, Spain, Tunisia, Jordan and Italy (3 per country) will be part of the program and will benefit from the intensive virtual bootcamp.

 

  1. Acceleration:
  • 8 projects will enter the acceleration program. It will provide personalized support including one to one and group coaching sessions.
  • The objective of the acceleration phase is to validate the business model and go to market strategy in the market and explore the right partnerships and strengthen the final pitch deck.

 

The 8 projects will be invited to do an innovation pitch in front of potential up-takers of innovation, during the virtual Innovation Week in Tunisia from January 17th until January 20th 2022.

The training program should include the below main topics:
    • Component 1 – Innovation commercialization in the WEF sector:
  • Introduction of the WEF Nexus sector
  • Market opportunities analysis in the Mediterranean region  
  • Types of commercialization strategies
  • Market segmentation and market opportunities in the Mediterranean region
  • Go to market strategy (channels, customers, marketing strategy, partnerships etc.)
  • Basic financial projections
  • Go2market Pitch deck development
    • Component 2: Acceleration (customized, over 6 weeks)

Following an assessment, a detailed individual plan will be developed including group and one to one sessions covering, but not limited to:

    • Business model market validation
    • Financial plans and projections
    • Go to market and partnership strategy
Sessions’ format:

Bootcamp:

  • Component 1 will be given virtually from November 29th until December 8th 2021.

Acceleration:

  • Typical length of each session is up to 2.5 hours twice a week given in group coaching sessions and one-on-one sessions.

 

*Sessions are expected to be highly interactive, customized to the profile of the projects, sharing ongoing feedback with participants and followed by specific deliverables that will be reviewed by trainers for feedback. Experts should be able to provide customized feedback for participants to improve their final pitch deck.

*Trainers should include tools, templates and resources in coordination with Berytech team.

*The trainers are asked to share with Berytech a clear training curriculum, session details, timeline, methodology, tools and deliverables expected, for validation.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Applications to this proposal can be from independent trainers or a legal entity, from Lebanon or the region
  • Different trainers may be invited to participate to particular sessions that require specific expertise.
  • Applicants can apply to component 1 and/or component 2
  • Trainers should be experienced in delivering similar trainings or coaching for the empowerment of entrepreneurs with a minimum of 5 years of experience in technology transfer.
  • Trainers should add interventions from experts having a demonstratable knowledge of the WEF Nexus sector.

The training material and content should be adapted to the WEF nexus sector. Examples and case studies on the WEF nexus in the Mediterranean region should be presented during the sessions.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Expert trainers or the training firm will be selected based on:

  • The proposal and methodology suggested and fit for the program’s objective.
  • Experts’ bio, proven track records and experience in the field required.
