Export Readiness consultant– Scaling-up Agri-Food Innovation (SAFI)

Berytech is a leading organization in the Entrepreneurial Eco-system in Lebanon, that aims to provide a conducive environment for the creation and development of startups, through incubation, business support, counseling, funding, networking, and the company hosting, hence taking part in the economic revival of the country, participating in wealth and job creation, and retaining graduates and high-level skills in Lebanon.

The Scaling Up Agri-Food Innovations (SAFI) project supports SMEs in the agri-food sector to scale up and accelerate their business to support import substitution and food security in Lebanon and facilitate export-readiness.

The SAFI project seeks an expert in Food product compliance at food safety national and international levels to help SMEs better understand and comply with food safety, quality, and packaging requirements, so they become technically export ready. The engagement includes one field visit and up to three one-on-one sessions with each SME for tailored guidance that may include but is not limited to:

• The different methodologies, techniques, regulations, and certificates that they are required to comply with
• The types of certifications and guidelines that they need to abide by for global markets
• The manufacturing/ processing facility requirements at GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) level to get certified
• The different strategies of sourcing, testing, and controlling raw materials and end products for export
• The different packaging and labeling requirements for export to global markets such as the  GCC, EU and USA
• Food handling and storing requirements before and during export.

In addition to the one-on-one sessions, the deliverables include one summary report for each SME that includes the assessment for their food safety compliance and export readiness, the recommendations that they need to follow, and their progress throughout the one-on-one sessions.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of experience as a food safety and quality expert in the areas mentioned.  
• Possess strong knowledge in areas related to the export readiness and global standards and regulations.
• Hands on experience in delivering technical assistance.
• Demonstrates strong communications skills and professional credibility to influence entrepreneurs and sales professionals.
