Finance Expert– DAWERR Incubation Program

Context & Background  

Berytech is a leading organization in the Entrepreneurial Eco-system in Lebanon, that aims to provide a conducive environment for the creation and development of startups, through incubation, business support, counseling, funding, networking, and the company hosting, hence taking part in the economic revival of the country, participating in wealth and job creation, and retaining graduates and high-level skills in Lebanon.  

This Incubation Program is a program  designed and managed by  BERYTECH under the DAWERR Activity, a 5-year Activity funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) with the goal to establish sustainable and replicable integrated solid waste diversion and valorization solutions in rural areas of Lebanon. 

Under DAWERR program, BERYTECH will provide business and technical assistance and other needs to support 3 incubated startup teams in scaling their operations.

Scope of work 

The DAWERR Activity team seeks a Trainer to deliver a workshop over 1 day covering and 5 x 1-1 sessions for each of the 3 startups (15 sessions in total). The workshop aims to provide participants with the following key takeaways:

  • Foundational understanding of financial statements
  • Insights into effective cash flow management and forecasting techniques
  • Awareness of funding options and considerations.
  • Understanding key financial metrics for startup success

  • Workshop length is 5 hours and will be delivered in-person over 1 day

Throughout the workshop, interactive activities, case studies, and group discussions customized to the scope of the project and profile of the ventures will be incorporated to facilitate hands-on learning.

    1. Sessions 

Following the workshop, the expert is expected to hold 5 x 1-1 meetings with each of the 3 startups. The 1x1 session is designed to be one hour in length, to offer detailed feedback to each startup regarding their financial model. 

 Expected Deliverables  

Key Deliverables: 

  • PowerPoint Presentation for the workshop 
  • Supporting templates
  • Submit a report to the program management team after each 1-1 session; covering progress, challenges faced, and recommendations provided to each startup.

Qualifications  

  • A degree in finance or accounting
  • Proven experience in delivering financial training, particularly for startups or small businesses.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial statements, cash flow management, funding options, and key financial metrics for startup success.
  • Excellent communication skills

Selection criteria 

Expert trainers will be selected based on: 

  • Expert bio, proven track records and experience in the required field 
  • Budget scope 
  • Availability during January-April for the delivery of the workshop and subsequent 1-1 sessions

How to Apply

Candidates should submit the following documents:

Technical (maximum two pages) describing the methodology to conduct the work based on the content suggested in the section: “Scope of Work, and Deliverables” elaborating it further.

Profile and project references (maximum two pages): A brief explanation of the consultant(s) background should be submitted (CVs shall be included as an annex) along with project references on the topic.

Financial Proposal describing the expected remuneration and the proposed period of the intervention divided per workshop and per 1 on 1 session.
