Context & Background

 

About Berytech: A leading organization in the Entrepreneurial Eco-system in Lebanon, that aims to provide a conducive environment for the creation and development of startups, through incubation, business support, counseling, funding, networking, and the company hosting, hence taking part in the economic revival of the country, participating in wealth and job creation, and retaining graduates and high-level skills in Lebanon. 

 

About the program: “The generation of innovation leaders/Gil” is a program by UNICEF designed to address the high unemployment rates among youth in Lebanon & their lack of access to the knowledge economy. Under this project, Berytech aims to Increase access of Lebanese and Non-Lebanese youth (17-25 years) to technical and vocational training and innovative skills building programs for improved professional readiness and employability.

 

About the Fab Labs:  UNICEF is working on implementing 3 Open-access digital fabrication labs in three innovation labs for students, professionals, artists, techies, entrepreneurs, and makers across Lebanon. The Fab labs empower them with the latest digital manufacturing technologies and a vast array of resources to create, fabricate, and transform their ideas into working prototypes and innovative products.

Scope of work

 

The Technical Consultant shall develop tender documents detailing technical specifications, layouts, and interior requirements to properly set-up the third Fab Lab established by UNICEF

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Provide technical input during the Tender Preparation Phase as well as during the implementation phase on all specific details required for the optimal use of functions and machines, such as: electrical outlets location, furniture positioning and dimensions especially cabinets, and branding (colors and logos)
  • Tender documents for the furniture (drawings, BoQs and Specs) preparation allowing the rehabilitation contractors to present their offers and later on shop drawings accordingly.
  • Conduct regular site visits
  • Perform quality control, testing, and regular inspections upon handover for materials and furniture
  • Coordinate and provide input for other consultants such as Firefighting engineers to ensure the ideal system (Hydrants tank + pipes network + sprinklers)
Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture or Interior Design. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of practical experience working as an interior designer or interior architect.
  • Strong technical and practical CAD skills with an understanding of architectural conventions, including floor plans, elevations, and sections.
  • Strong proficiency in producing tender drawings, competent in drafting.
  • Works flexibly and collaboratively with other team members and consultants.
  • Experience in researching, selecting and specifying materials and finishes.
  • An eye for detail and a logical approach to inspecting a site
  • Experience within maker spaces/Fab Labs interiors is a plus.
  • Organized, detail oriented, deadline driven.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication.
