Child Protection Officer

Responsibilities:

  1. Implementation of Standards and Guidelines: Ensure the implementation of internal and national Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidelines, and coordination mechanisms for assistance to persons of concern.
  2. Program Planning and Management: Contribute to the planning, development, and management of child protection programs or projects within the NGO. Provide technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process.
  3. Humanitarian Principles: Contribute to initiatives aimed at strengthening Humanitarian Principles (HP) by planning, leading, and implementing child protection initiatives aligned with these principles.
  4. Coordination and Referral: Coordinate with various stakeholders, internally and externally, including partner organizations, government agencies, and community members. Establish referral mechanisms and ensure coordination among service providers to meet the needs of children and persons of concern.
  5. Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor the progress and impact of child protection programs, ensuring they are implemented with high-quality standards. Conduct assessments, collect data, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
  6. Training and Capacity Building: Organize and conduct training sessions for staff members, partner organizations, and community members to enhance their understanding of child protection issues and build their capacity to respond effectively.

Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of Child Protection: Familiarity with child protection principles, standards, and guidelines.
  2. Program Management Skills: Ability to contribute to program planning, development, and management, providing technical, operational, and administrative assistance.
  3. Understanding of Humanitarian Principles: Awareness of humanitarian principles and their application in child protection initiatives.
  4. Coordination and Communication Skills: Strong coordination abilities to work with various stakeholders and establish referral mechanisms. Excellent communication skills to facilitate collaboration and coordination.
  5. Monitoring and Evaluation Expertise: Proficiency in monitoring progress and impact of child protection programs, conducting assessments, and evaluating interventions.
  6. Training and Capacity Building Experience: Prior involvement in organizing and conducting training sessions for staff members, partner organizations, or community members to enhance their understanding and capacity in child protection.
  7. Knowledge in Case Management: This includes an understanding of the principles and processes involved in case management, as well as familiarity with relevant guidelines and standards. This knowledge can contribute to effective coordination and collaboration with child protection officers and other stakeholders, ensuring that case management practices are aligned with best practices and implemented in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
