As the United Kingdom’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, the British Council creates international opportunities for the people of the UK as well as of Lebanon, in order to build trust and understanding between them, and maintain mutually beneficial relationships. The British Council’s work in the Arts helps the organisation foster links between UK and local organisations, institutions and practitioners in the various creative forms and industries.
The British Counicl Arts programme in Lebanon is an important part of the country strategy and the UK’s cultural engagement in the region. The key role for the post holder will be to maintain the established relationships the British Council has with local partners in Lebanon, and further strengthen our portfolio by securing partner and donor funding for projects.
The post holder will work closely with the Deputy Director, within the Lebanon Projects Team of 7 staff , and with the Arts UK Advisors and the Arts Regional Large Scale Programme Managers, with the aim of:
- re-enforcing the positioning of the UK as leader in Creativity and Innovation
- building strategic partnerships with leading cultural organisations, as well as artists and practitioners in the Arts sector.
- contributing to the growth of the involvement and participation of leaders, policy makers, influencers, artists, practitioners and the wider public in the BC activities in the Lebanon.
