British Policing Support Project   PROJECT COORDINATOR - TERMS OF REFERENCE   Job Title:                       Project Coordinator Reports to:                   Operations Manager Time Basis:                   Full-time Period:                          Current to 31 March 2017 with possibility of extension (3 months’ probation period) Location:                       Beirut with travel within Lebanon Compensation:             Competitive based on experience   Project Overview   Through the British Policing Support Project (2016-19) the United Kingdom supports the Lebanese Internal Security Forces (ISF) to meet the challenges to Lebanon’s stability and public safety. Key strategic elements of the British Policing Support Project (BPSP) relate to mainstreaming a Community Policing model, improving internal and external accountability, enhancing Human Rights and building the capacity and professionalism of the ISF.   Role The role of the Project Coordinator is to coordinate the work of the Component Teams implementing BPSP Output 3 and Output 4, implementing the agreed Output areas from the Project Plan 2016/19.   Responsibilities and Accountabilities Coordinate and liaise between BPSP personnel and stakeholders in including senior ISF officials. Provide strategic perspective and consultation to the Output Leads and Project Manager. Support on inducting Component Teams into the goal, strategy and administrative and financial processes of BPSP. Provide Project Officers with information on Output 3 and Output 4 developments and contribute where necessary to formal Project-level reporting on a quarterly and yearly basis and at other time when it is required. Contribute to the initial training for the Finance Officer and Admin-Finance Support Officer. Person Profile Creative thinker able to facilitate relationships and collaboration in challenging or complex environments Independent worker with ability to interpret their responsibilities from the overall BPSP goals and fulfil them, taking part in shaping design and progressing the project. Confident communicator, able to create and cultivate close but professional relationships with all BPSP stakeholders, able to challenge colleagues’ thinking and receive and respond to criticism. Individual committed to producing high quality work on a consistent basis. Flexible and ready to support on work outside stated responsibilities outside regular hours. Able to multitask and prioritise and problem solve to a high standard. Excellent communicator. High ethical standards. Essential Experience and Skills Two years’ experience in development projects. University degree. Excellent Arabic and English speaker. Highly competent in Microsoft Office suite. Fluent English and Arabic with excellent writing skills Desirable Experience and Skills Post-graduate degree. Competent in visual design software. Experience in coordinating research projects. Experience in security and justice reform in the Middle East and active understanding of rule of law, security, justice and policing issues applicable to Lebanon.
