Position Title:

Protection Lawyer – Employment Rights and Legal Access

Location:

Tripoli, Lebanon (field visits across North Lebanon as needed)

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Legal Counseling on Labor and Employment Rights

Provide one-on-one legal consultations on Lebanese labor laws, workers’ rights, social security benefits, severance, and workplace safety.

Support clients in reviewing employment contracts, and advise on their rights during hiring, employment, and termination.

Assist workers in documenting violations such as arbitrary dismissal, harassment, non-payment, or exploitation.

2. Legal Empowerment and Access to Justice

Facilitate access to justice mechanisms by informing individuals of available legal aid, complaint pathways, labor arbitration, and judicial processes.

Provide referrals to legal aid NGOs, bar associations, and national labor bodies.

Assist in preparing official complaints, claims, or follow-up letters with labor inspectors or courts when appropriate.

3. Capacity Building and Legal Awareness

Design and deliver information sessions, workshops, and legal awareness campaigns on topics like:

Minimum wage and working hours

Occupational health and safety

Women’s labor rights and workplace protections

Rights of informal and migrant workers

Develop accessible legal materials (flyers, guides, FAQs) in Arabic to simplify legal knowledge for the general public.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Licensed lawyer registered with the Beirut or Tripoli Bar Association.

At least 5 years of legal practice with proven experience in labor law and social protection systems.

Prior work with vulnerable populations (e.g., youth, women, displaced persons, or low-income workers) is highly preferred.

Familiarity with international labor standards and refugee law is an asset.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Arabic; working knowledge of English or French is a plus.
