Senior Protection officer
CARE Lebanon is looking for a highly qualified senior protection officer who will join CARE Lebanon’s team in Tripoli.
Detailed Responsibilities & Tasks:
Responsibility #1: Project Implementation
Contribute to the overall and daily project implementation as per donor agreement and CARE guidelines, including follow up on the established work plan.
Organize and implement community-level activities, including community meetings, outreach activities run by Social Workers and other staff member, capacity building, awareness raising campaigns, mass communication, etc. ensuring qualitative and timely planning, implementation and monitoring/evaluation of the component.
Mobilize grass-root organizations and beneficiary groups relevant to the project implementation, and facilitate the development of local community networks.
Conduct frequent field visits to monitor and evaluate activities implementation
Support the Project Manager and the Protection & Gender Advisor in the development of the project strategy/methodology.
Ensure that staff adhere to protection mainstreaming principles, child protection and GBV best-practices and professional standards and principles.
Develop and further strengthen the implementation of protection and gender toolkits and monitor and evaluate the impact of Protection activities/toolkits on beneficiaries.
Accomplish any other task requested by PM, coordinators and any for other business requested by the mission.
Follow the security rules to ensure security on-site.
Responsibility #2 : Liaison
Work closely with partner organizations and beneficiary groups to foster adequate community participation in the activities.
Liaise with other project departments and give support when needed to ensure protection activities integrated with shelter and gender.
Contribute to the analysis of internal and external M&E tools adopted.
Check and provide final versions of qualitative monitoring tools on the base of the data provided by social workers.
Liaise with external actors (local authorities, national/international NGOs, etc.).
Proactively participate in protection and relevant coordination meeting at the field level as appropriate.
Participate in CARE coordination meetings and also bi-lateral coordination meetings with organizations (local and international) when required.
Responsibility #3 : Logistic & administration
Ensure the follow-up and the proper use of materials, tools and assets during the activities;
Ensure the team in the respective area are working effectively together, mitigate in case of tensions and conflict and report immediately on HR related issues
Ensure compliance with CARE administrative and logistical procedures relevant to the activities (procurement, transport, etc.).
Responsibility #4 : Reporting
Collect all information and written/orally reports on the progress of the activities on a daily and weekly basis as per established reporting formats containing clear quantitative and qualitative information related to the activities
Support partner/s staff teams through the development of a technically sound (monthly & weekly) reports
Organize weekly/monthly meetings to plan activities with the projects’ and partner’s teams.
Report immediately any delay, problem or other relevant information to the Project Manager.
Competencies:
Strong capacity to build partnerships and to work with local partner organizations.
At least 3 years of proven international experience in implementation of protection programming in emergency.
Ideally experience in working with programs preventing Child Early Forced Marriage, community based protection, and mobilization
Sensitivity to the needs and priorities of crisis-affected populations.
Clear understanding of gender inequality and knowledge of how to mainstream gender and diversity in project design and community mobilization
Ability to train, mentor and support other staff in their respective tasks in a professional, respectful and supportive manner;
Understanding of the Lebanese socio-economic context with a focus on the Syrian crisis.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect.
Fluent in English and spoken Arabic is required.
What we offer
One year full time contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work as soon as hired and be willing and able to work in Tripoli. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with CARE Lebanon’s terms
