Electromechanical / Agricultural Engineer Consultant (Training and Maintenance)

JOB SUMMARY

We are currently looking for an Electromechanical & General Maintenance Engineer or an Agricultural Engineer for both planned and reactive machinery maintenance and repairs and general facilities maintenance; who has a hands-on approach to all aspects of this role. The successful applicant will be responsible for undertaking activities on a diverse range of machinery and mechanical equipment in particular pruning, ensuring conformity with health and safety regulations for staff and the agriculture service center. Our machinery includes branch crushers/grinders, rotary tillers and cutters/tree scissors.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The consultant will work on the agriculture service center in Deir El Ahmar region which consists of municipal union of eight municipalities under USAID BALADI Program.

 The consultant will be responsible for the following:

• Train on agriculture equipment in particular pruning of grapes, apple trees, cherry trees and other types of fruits that grow in the area and ensure you are familiar with all existing equipment on site.
• Train staff on carrying out inspections and routine maintenance on equipment and machinery and ensure they are fit for purpose, and meets all safety requirements, and work on schedule and respond to equipment faults/breakdowns as they occur;
• Design a simple maintenance yearly plan, planned preventative maintenance schedules, procedures and methods;
• Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely and securely; for both employees and contractors and in line with health and safety legislation.
• Be proactive, with regard to maintaining site machinery, recommend on-going improvements for efficiency and effectiveness;
• Advise management of any safety issues that need action and ensure that anything requiring urgent action is dealt with immediately, seeking new initiatives to drive maintenance issues to a minimum.

JOB TERMS

Short-term Technical Consultant basis (8 hours/day)

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Masters or Bachelor Degree in Agricultural Engineering, or Electromechanical & General Maintenance Engineer.
• Experience providing training to farmers.
• Special experience in the agriculture of growing of apples, cherries and grapes.
• At least 10 years of similar experience in relevant field is desirable.
• Prior similar responsibility under Donor programs is desirable.
• Have previous experience in Lebanon and previous similar responsibilities in implementing similar context projects and activities.

• Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic; French is a plus
• Excellent reporting, communication and interpersonal skills
• Good computer applications skills.
