Counselor - Matn

POSITION OBJECTIVE: 

The counselor will provide counseling and assistance in response to the needs of migrants in Lebanon.

DUTIES:

• Receive migrants and provide moral support
• Assist the social workers in translation, and during interviews for special cases
• Attend investigation/ hearings and fill in social forms if required
• Coordinate with Social Workers to inform migrants of their choices and guide them through their own problem-solving process in a participatory way
• Act as a mediator between migrants and Social Workers in order to resolve conflicts, when required
• Provide information on cases when requested by partners in country of origin
• Help contacting migrants' families
• Accompany migrants to hospitals or to complete legal papers in their embassies
• Conduct orientation sessions in migrants 'language, in shelters and communities, even after working hours and during weekends when needed, in coordination with the head of migrants program
• Submit monthly report
• Work occasionally on weekends or after working hours for very urgent cases (investigations, medical issues, …) in coordination with the head of migrants program

Business Skills

• Active Listening : giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate
• Good technical knowledge and skill of counseling
• Excellent communication skills
• Good interpersonal relationship skills
• Proficiency in Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required

Computer Skills

• Microsoft office
• Software applications required for daily operations

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE: 

• 2 to 3 years relevant experience
