Caritas Lebanon is looking for a psychologist to provide psychological support to its staff through individual counseling and/or group therapy.
Frontline staff, particularly social workers and case workers, are frequently required to engage with and assist individuals and/or families who faced/are facing difficult events and circumstances. Such cases may include, but are not limited to, instances of war, extreme violence, death, poverty, torture, child abuse, etc. Skilled social workers/case workers are exposed to high level of stress. Therefore, such staff require support and a means of coping with such cases and the emotional and psychological stress and secondary trauma which they may cause. To avoid the risk of burn-out and provide opportunities to develop personalized self-care and resilience programs, CL is hiring a psychologist to support frontline staff
DUTIES
- Organize weekly support groups for case workers/social workers implementing case management and PSS support activities (who are in daily contact with beneficiaries).
- Performs individual assessments in the case of individual staff members experiencing difficulty coping and/or presenting mental health-related symptoms.
- Identifies local and internal resources and refers individuals to mental health services as necessary.
- Maintains confidentiality of information obtained and handles protected health information as per organizational policy.
- Maintains an up to date knowledge of and abides by applicable Lebanese laws and regulations affecting mental health
- Maintains an up to date knowledge of and applies organizational policies and procedures for child protection and protection of vulnerable populations
- Updates the Project Coordinator and the Head of Department, as necessary, on the number and progress of targeted individual and/or group sessions
- Advises Project Coordinator and HR, as necessary, or upon request, with the aim of improving the working atmosphere in their teams and resolving problems of a work-related or personal nature that adversely affect job performance and productivity
- Monitors environmental factors that could lead to stress, with particular focus on stress related to critical incidents including emergency and crisis situations
- Plan, develop, and implement stress management and resilience building training to all relevant staff
- Organize group sessions on a monthly basis for all staff to learn skills to respond to, manage, and reduce stress and promote positive coping measures and self-care
- Available for individual therapy for staff members, upon request
- Report to the Mental Health Unit Team Leader for any technical challenges and feedback

- Specialized understanding and scientific approach to human behavior, cognitive performance and psychosocial problems
- Ability to choose, conduct and report on psychological testing and assessments for diagnosis and treatment planning
- Ability to engage in case formulation, treatment delivery and final outcome evaluation processes
- An evidence-based approach to psychological intervention. Experience in group therapy and support groups
- Capacity to work in a team and autonomously
- Capacity to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team
- Capacity to work under high pressure
- Ability to show initiative and take responsibility.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills
- Fluent in written and spoken Arabic – English
Computer Skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE
• 2 to 3 years of experience.
• Previous experience in NGO and humanitarian field is an advantage.
• Experience in providing trainings and building capacity of staff is an advantage.
