Senior Social Worker - Achrafieh

POSITION OBJECTIVE: 

The Senior Social worker works with people to support them through difficult times and ensure that vulnerable people, including children and adults are safeguarded from harm. Their role is to provide support for service users to be able to help themselves while maintaining professional relationships with them and acting as guides and advocates.

DUTIES:

  • Interview the beneficiaries: new cases and shelters residents by providing listening and counseling services to migrant workers (men and women), fill the social file and integrate all related information on the system dynamics (Case management)
  • Daily update of each case on social files and on Dynamics (additional information or services provided)
  • Respond to emergency cases and run the 24 hour hotline for migrant domestic worker victims of violence during the day and in weekends
  • Liaise with lawyers for legal consultations, and accelerate the preparation of General Security letters, and accelerate the procedure of sending letters to the General Security
  • Collaborate with embassies/consulates, recruitment agencies, general security, employers, retention center staff, general doctors, and forensic doctors to resolve the Migrants' problems
  • Cooperate with partners at countries of origins through Emails, by sending referrals and ensuring the reintegration of migrants to their countries of origin
  • Collaborate to ensure the transportation of beneficiaries during the investigation and the repatriation procedure
  • Collaborate with Caritas / General Security liaison officer to accelerate the arrival of letters to the department of investigations, and to speed up the repatriation of the beneficiaries
  • Collaborate with shelters within the week and visit the shelters regularly (once a week)
  • Prepare and implement psychosocial activities in the shelter
  • Follow up on received phone calls from people requesting support regarding any query or help
  • Report to the Head of Migrants Program the critical cases for final approval on the actions to be taken
  • Prepare daily / weekly reports on cases of beneficiaries and on activities implemented
  • Update weekly the beneficiaries list
  • Accompany beneficiaries to psychiatric hospitals and to hospitals in general for physical illnesses
  • Accompany beneficiaries to the notary, and make power of attorneys
  • Comprehensive follow up of each case during her presence at the shelter or as an outsider until reintegration to her home country
  • Work occasionally on weekends or after the working hours for urgent cases or counseling
  • Receive emergency calls during weekends from the shelters, if necessary (pregnant, sick or mentally ill cases)
  • Visit hospitals to provide counseling for injured or mentally ill cases
  • Accomplish further tasks and requirements requested on the spot by the head of the department.
  • Collaborate with other departments/centers within Caritas Lebanon

Computer Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:

  • 5 to 7 years of experience preferably in management/administration
  • Experience in an administrative coordination capacity
  • Experience working with Refugees, Migrants and other groups
