Social Animator

OBJECTIVE

The Social animator works with people to support them through difficult times and ensure that vulnerable people, including children and adults are safeguarded from harm. Their role is to organize and deliver PSS activities the children enrolled at the schools supported by Caritas Lebanon. They maintain professional relationships with beneficiaries, acting as guides and advocates.

DUTIES

• Provide listening and counseling services to refugees (men and women), fill the social file and integrate all related information on the system
• Refer beneficiaries to relevant service when needed
• Organize PSS sessions for the children according to their needs
• Collaborate with SW colleagues to identify participants for the sessions
• Conduct working groups with women, men and children
• Accompany beneficiaries during recreational activities
• Ensure proper follow up on all actions to be considered for individual cases till achieving desired results
• Report to the case management supervisor the critical cases for further action
• Prepare progress monthly reports on cases of beneficiaries and on activities implemented
• Participate in training, conferences and attend meetings
• Assess, plan and implement activities in coordination with the case management supervisor and social workers
• Collaborate with school principals to achieve project activities
• Refer traumatized cases to a psychologist/speech therapist for counseling and assistance.
• Collaborate with teachers for monitoring of students’ academic progress, psychosocial wellbeing and development through the year and assess the impact of support provided
• Carry out educational activities such as excursion for students
• Conduct awareness sessions on non-discrimination, acceptance of difference in classrooms, ...
• Keep file of incidents of discrimination reported by students, teachers or parents

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

• 1 to 5 years relevant experience
• Experience working with Refugees and other groups
• Experience in working with vulnerable groups is a plus
