Academic Monitor Higher Education Scholarship (HES) American University of Beirut

The academic monitor will assist in the recruitment and selection of qualified scholars to join the American University of Beirut (AUB) under the Higher Education Scholarship (HES) Program, funded by USAID. He/she will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all aspects of the program and will be in continuous contact with the scholars: recruitment and selection of qualified scholars moving to their enrollment at the University. He/she will also be advising the students, monitoring their academic and leadership performance and their overall wellbeing at the university.

Duties

• Coordinates with the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid Office during the recruitment phase
• Organizes and conducts the on-campus special orientation for selected qualified scholars
• Coordinates with the Registrar’s office, Center for Civic Engagement and Community Service (CCECS), Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (OIRA), and the residence staff on all matters related to scholars
• Coordinates closely with AUB personnel who are working on the on-going phases of the scholarship program
• Schedules meetings between scholars and the Assistant Director as well as the Director of the program for regular follow-up
• Reports to the Assistant Director on a weekly basis
• Prepares technical reports and compiles information related to scholars’ records, training, and vetting
• Organizes events for scholars in which USAID and AUB officials participate
• Monitors scholars’ performance and tracks relevant data
• Checks the academic evaluation of each scholar on a monthly basis and follows-up on the academic as well as the extra-curricular progress of scholars
