Online Course Facilitator - Digital Skills

Project Summary:

The Center for Civic Engagement and Community Service at the American University of Beirut is implementing a blended college-readiness program that prepares Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese youth for entry into higher education. This program provides massive open online course in the aim to prepare Syrian and Lebanese youth to enter higher education. This project is funded by UK aid from the British people through SPHEIR in partnership with King’s College London, Al Al Bayt University (Jordan), Kiron Open Higher Education (Germany) and FutureLearn (UK).

The MOOC is entitled "Introduction to Digital Skills"

Job Description: 

  • to facilitate the Massive Open Online course for 4 to 8 hours per week using Zoom platform for a class of 20 students
  • to guide the students with the onboarding to the MOOC
  • to support the students in navigating through the Massive Open Online Course
  • to prepare lesson plans in relation to the online content
  • to explain difficult terms and concepts
  • to assist students in English terms if needed
  • to offer students technical support if needed
  • to follow up with students' attendance and absence 
  • to report to the MOOC Coordinator on a bi-weekly basis

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, IT or related fields
  • Excellent Computer Skills
  • Previous experience in teaching or online tutoring
  • Previous experience with refugees or vulnerable communities
  • Fluent in English and Arabic
