RELIEF MOOC Content Coordinator

The RELIEF (Refugees, Education, Learning, Information Technology, and Entrepreneurship for the Future) Centre is a five-year project that started in April 2017 and forms part of the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF), a £1.5 billion UK Government investment to support cutting-edge research that addresses the challenges faced by developing countries. It is a partnership between University College London, the American University of Beirut and the Centre for Lebanese Studies.

The RELIEF Centre’s research focuses on how we can measure prosperity and growth in Lebanon, a country that is experiencing such a massive displacement of people, moving beyond indices like GDP to include measurements of well-being, health, employment and education. This deeper, multidisciplinary understanding will lead the way in implementing measures to help Lebanon deal with the challenges they are facing as well as being able to apply them elsewhere in the world.

An important part of the RELIEF Centre's work is the production of a series of MOOCs (Massive Online Open Courses), which will be available for free, for anyone around the world. Our intention for the MOOCs is to extend and expand the learning of the RELIEF Centre by engaging people from around the world on themes that are globally-relevant.

The MOOCs will be produced in both English and Arabic, with the English version available on FutureLearn and the Arabic version available on Edraak. We are intending to produce two MOOCs before the end of 2018, one on teacher development training and the other on community research.

We are looking for a dedicated MOOC Content Coordinator who will oversee the delivery and content creation of these two MOOCs, and be a central point of contact for the MOOC team, especially in London.

Duties of Post

The Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the delivery and content creation of the MOOCs. Duties include:

  • Identifying appropriate individuals and organisations in Lebanon, who could contribute to the MOOC (for example, being interviewed on camera or supplying written case studies).
  • Identifying locations in Lebanon for videoing case studies and appraising the logistics of filming.
  • Setting up filming sessions in Lebanon with individuals and organisations, and liaising with the London researchers and the communications team.
  • Interviewing individuals and groups for MOOC videos in Arabic on location.
  • Assisting with editing Arabic language video clips.
