  Improving Citizenship Education The Education Sector Development Plan is a national strategy for education reform developed at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE). The EU has funded a project that supports all the activities of one of its ten components, Citizenship Education. Reform for Citizenship Education includes three main activities: 1) Evaluate and develop the citizenship education curricula and its learning and teaching resources; 2) Teachers and administrators to implement an active citizenship program; and 3) Develop a democratic school environment through parent and student councils and community service programs.   The Project Team is led by the Institute of Education, University of London (IOE) and, in Lebanon, by its two implementing partners the Center for Lebanese Studies (CLS) and the Lebanese Association for Educational Studies (LAES). The project activities will start with carrying out field research across 36 public and non-public schools across all districts in Lebanon. The aim is to establish the current situation of citizenship education and seek the views of teachers, students and other key informants and actors. The Project Team now seeks to recruit a number of education researchers with experience of field research in Education.   Job Description Contracted researchers will undertake school visits for data collection, so you must be prepared to travel and undertake the research unaccompanied. You will be responsible for transcribing and organizing and safely storing the data you collect. You will be working within a strict framework of research ethics and confidentiality.   You also will: The researchers appointed will work in close collaboration with the Principal Investigators at CLS and LAES. Training and briefing will be provided. Following further training you will be expected to analyse the data you have collected and present your findings to other researchers and members of the research team. Travel expenses will be reimbursed. You will be expected to keep a field journal for observations and reflections and make relevant sections of this available to the research team. During the period of your contract you must be available at any time.    Tentative timeline and deliverables: Workshop and activites     - # of days - Date Attend workshops for design & collection- 6 days- April,2013 Conduct school visits - 18 days- April,May 2013 Sharing initial impressions and results- 2 days-May, 2013 Attend workshop on transcribing and organising data- 2 days-May,2013 Transcribe, submit and analyse data- 18 days-May,June 2013 Presentation day for findings - 3- July,2013   Research site: Six districts of Lebanon including Palestinian camps.   Person specification Essential Significant experience of: conducting qualitative research with adults and young people, preferably in educational settings transcribing and organizing data communicating study findings to researchers, policymakers, and practitioners Capacity to travel to unfamiliar school locations and conduct research unaided Oral and written communication skills Arabic is essential, English is preferable Competent in basic use of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)   Desirable Knowledge of the Lebanese public and private education sectors Experience in using qualitative software such as Nvivo or Maxqda Experience in classroom teaching or work with teachers and students (for all grades in particular primary and elementary schools) Experience in development of learning and teaching materials for active citizenship and human rights education     باحثون    الموعد النهائي لقبول الطلبات 14 نيسان 2013 مدة التوظيف: ابتداء من منتصف نيسان  ولغاية تموز 2013 (ايام العمل لمدة شهرين)   إصدرت وزارة التربية والتعليم العالي خطة لتطوير قطاع التعليم  ضمت عشر اولويات، من ضمنها التربية على المواطنة. وبتمويل من   الاتحاد الأوروبي تم إطلاق مشروع إصلاح التربية على المواطنةالذي يتضمن ثلاثة أنشطة رئيسية هي: 1) تقييم المناهج الدراسية ومواد التعليم والتعلم الخاصة بالتربية على المواطنة وتطويرها؛ 2)  تطبيق برنامج المواطنة الناشطة من قبل المعلمين والمنسقين الإداريين؛ و 3) خلق بيئات ديمقراطية وتشاركية عن طريق مجالس الطلاب والأهالي وبرامج خدمة المجتمع. تتولى كلية التربية في جامعة لندن تنفيذ المشروع عبر شركاء وطنيين هما مركز الدراسات اللبنانية والهيئة اللبنانية للدراسات التربوية. يستهل المشروع ببحث إستشاري حول رؤية 36 مدرسة رسمية وخاصة موزعة على كافة انحاء لبنان للمناهج الجديدة وتوصياتهم. وهدف البحث هواستطلاع الوضع الراهن للتربية على المواطنة في المدارس والتماس آراء المعلمين والطلاب والاداريين و الاهالي حول توقعاتهم وتطلعاتهم من المناهج التي سيتم تطويرها. ولهذا يسعى فريق المشروع إلى توظيف عدد من الباحثين  لديهم خبرة في البحث الميداني في المجال التعليمي.   توصيف الوظيفة -          زيارة المدارس لجمع البيانات واجراء المقابلات، لذلك يجب أن يكون الباحثون مستعدون  للتنقل وإجراء المهمة بشكل مستقل. -           تدوين وتنظيم وارشفة البيانات بأمانة. -          الالتزام بأخلاقيات البحوث والسرية. ملاحظات اضافية: -          سوف يعمل الباحثون  بشكل وثيق مع المحققين الرئيسيين في  مركز الدراسات اللبنانية والهيئة اللبنانية للدراسات التربوية وسيتم توفير التدريب من قبل فريق المشروع. -          سيتم تنظيم تدريبات اضافية ليتمكن الباحثون من تحليل البيانات وتقديم النتائج لأعضاء فريق البحث. -          يغطي المشروع تكاليف تنقل الباحثين. -          يتوقع من الباحثون تدوين ملاحظاتهم وتعليقاتهم في مدونات ترسل لفريق البحث. -          خلال فترة التوظيف يجب أن يكون الباحثين متوفرين اغلب الوقت.   مقترح الجدول الزمني والمهام المنجزة: ورش العمل والأنشطة عدد الايام التاريخ حضور ورش عمل للتصميم وجمع المعلومات 6 نيسان 2013 زيارات الميدانية للمدارس 18 نيسان- ايار 2013 تبادل الانطباعات والنتائج الأولية 2 ايار 2013 حضور ورشة عمل في الكتابة وتنظيم البيانات 2 ايار 2013 تفريغ، تقديم وتحليل البيانات 18 ايار- حزيران 2013 يوم العرض لمخرجات البحث 3 تموز 2013   موقع البحث: ست محافظات  في  لبنان بما في ذلك المخيمات الفلسطينية المؤهلات المطلوبة: خبرة واسعة في: • كيفية إجراء بحوث نوعية مع فئات عمرية مختلفة تشمل صغار السن، ويفضل  ان تكون هذه الابحاث في مجال التربية والتعليم. • كيفية تفريغ وتنظيم و تحليل المعلومات و استخلاص النتائج • تقديم وعرض النتائج على الباحثين. القدرة على التنقل إلى المدارس وإجراء الابحاث بشكل مستقل مهارات التواصل شفهيا وكتابة. إتقان اللغتين العربية والإنجليزية خبرة اساسية في استعمال برامج المعلوماتية التالية (Microsoft Office, Word and Excel)    مؤهلات إضافية أ. معرفة في قطاعي التعليم العام والخاص في لبنان ب. خبرة في استخدام برامج  المعلوماتية  المختصة بالابحاث النوعية مثل Nvivo أو Maxqda ج. خبرة في مجال التعليم داخل الصف،  أوالعمل مع المعلمين والطلاب (لجميع الصفوف وخاصة  المراحل الابتدائية والمتوسطة ) د. خبرة في تطوير ادوات التعليم والتعلم من أجل المواطنة النشطة والتربية على حقوق الإنسان   يرجى ارسال السيرة الذاتية مرفقة مع رسالة على البريد الالكتروني التالي: cerlebanon2012@hotmail.com
