About Asylum Access Global Services:

Through Asylum Access Global Services (AAGS), we partner with national and international NGOs in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America to help expand and replicate relevant aspects of Asylum Access’ model.  We co-create legal empowerment programming, policy advocacy planning, and organizational development strategies to achieve common objectives that improve refugee rights. We aim to create a world where refugees can live safely, move freely, and rebuild their lives.  
 
Position Description:

The Project Associate will form a key part of our AAGS team in the Middle East, where we are working to improve legal empowerment programming with six community-based organizations across Lebanon and Jordan: The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH), Basmeh & Zeitooneh, Insan Association, Justice Center for Legal Aid (JCLA), Tamkeen, and Ruwwad.  
 
The Project Associate will be tasked with developing and delivering training curriculum, technical tools, program guidance and procedural documentation with partner organizations.  The Project Associate will play a key role in communicating and disseminating new tools as well as conducting monitoring and evaluation of this work. By working closely with local partners, this role will work on critical aspects of community-based legal empowerment programming so that refugees are better positioned to assert their rights. 

Key Responsibilities:

● Propose, develop, and implement trainings and capacity building workshops related to legal issues across diverse organizations.

● Develop guidance materials for new legal tools and systems, through creation, design, editing, finalization and promulgation.  

● Coordinate with partners to support the integration of new tools into existing work practices.

● Follow up on the integration of tools and trainings to collect feedback and propose adjustments to programming as needed.  

● Design communications materials for AAGS and partner organizations on legal empowerment programming.

● Conduct and manage Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) activities to assess the impact and success of NGO partner programs and the AAGS program.  

● Translate materials on legal issues between Arabic and English. Translate complex ideas and processes into clear and concise documentation.

● Coordinate meetings and events logistics with partner organizations.  
 
Additional Responsibilities:

● Identify areas of programmatic improvement and assess the feasibility of new interventions across diverse organizations.  

● Support ad hoc external writing including grant reporting, policy writing, and external communications.

● Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor or other leadership staff in coordination with the Program Lead.  
 
Minimum Qualifications: 

● Bachelor’s degree in Law, International Development, Human Rights or another relevant subject.  

● 2 years working experience of or detailed understanding of the refugee context and framework in either Lebanon or Jordan.  

● 2 years working experience in developing and delivering programmatic tools, training programs and procedural guidelines.

● Strong writing, design, and communication experience. Experience with communicating legal information is desired.

● Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple deadlines, and work effectively with high attention to detail.

● Experience working with refugee populations, survivors of trauma, or other marginalized populations is desired.

● Experience working with community-based or direct-action organizations is desired.  

● Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with high proficiency in Microsoft Powerpoint and Google Slides.

● Basic working knowledge of Google Apps (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, etc.).

● Ability to speak fluent English and Arabic is essential. 

Preferred Qualifications

● Monitoring and Evaluation experience, especially with regard to implementing tools to assess the impact and measuring the effectiveness of programs.

● Experience working with minimal supervision and in a remote capacity.

● Experience working in diverse work environments, including small office environments and field sites.

● A positive attitude and resilience in approaching challenges and uncertainty.  

● A proactive team-player who identifies opportunities and acknowledges challenges
