Background: 

The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization based in Beirut. CLDH was created in 2006 by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily), which has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human rights violations.  CLDH monitors the human rights situation in Lebanon, fights enforced disappearance, impunity, arbitrary detention and racism and rehabilitates the victims of torture. CLDH regularly organizes press conferences, workshops and advocacy meetings on human rights issues in Lebanon and collects, records and documents human rights abuses in reports and press releases. CLDH team on the ground supports initiatives aimed at determining the fate of all missing persons in Lebanon.  CLDH regularly follows up on numerous cases of arbitrary detention and torture in Lebanon in coordination with Lebanese and international organizations, and with the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention WGAD and the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture.   

CLDH currently has 4 offices: Dora, Bouchrieh, Beqaa and Tripoli.

Position Summary: 

The Psychologist conducts assessments, develops treatment plans, and provides therapy for beneficiaries, including detainees and victims of torture. They coordinate with medical and social teams, document cases, and support program development to promote mental well-being and the re-integration of the victims and their families in society.   

 

Deliverable and Tasks: 

Identify beneficiaries who need psychiatric treatment, in coordination with the General Practitioner and the Social Workers; coordinate with the psychiatrist on the referred cases. 

Provide psychological assessment of beneficiaries. 

Create a psychological treatment plan for the beneficiaries. 

Provide identified psychological treatment to the beneficiaries through individual and group sessions at the Center. 

Undertake visits to places of deprivation of liberty (adults and children) for individual psychology. 

Maintain accurate records and documentation of the beneficiaries' files on Activity Info (Psychologist section) and of the hard copy of the files. 

Prepare monthly reports on achievements, challenges, and lessons learned. 

Attend staff meetings and other relevant internal meetings. 

Participate in case management meetings ("case discussion"), when required. 

Plan and implement group PSS sessions in coordination with the social workers and target adolescents, victims of torture, prison inmates, and marginalized populations, when needed. 

Contribute to program design, proposal drafting and needs assessment when required. 

 

Experience and Qualifications: 

Education: Master's degree in psychology with proof of registration in the ministry of health ​ (mandatory). 

Work Experience: 3 to 4 years of experience in a similar position. 

Technical Skills: Experience working in the protection and legal sectors. Good experience in working in prisons, working with victims of torture, and in Human Rights/ Humanitarian organizations.  

Language: Fluency in Arabic, French, and English (oral and written) is required for this position.  

Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Email, and communication tools, Virtual collaboration. 

Core Competencies: Excellent communication skills and team player. Strong organization and time management skills.  

 

Location: 

The Psychologist is based at Dora office with visits to other locations when needed.
