About Lebanon Support
Lebanon Support is an independent non-governmental, non-religious, non-political, and non-profit making information and research center. Established in 2006, Lebanon Support was registered as a National Non-Governmental Organization in November 2008 (registered under the number 168/2009 AD). Lebanon Support aims at enhancing civil society capacity, efficiency and effectiveness through the creation of public spaces for reflection, collaboration and debate on and for civil society in Lebanon.
Lebanon Support adopts a multidisciplinary approach and evidence and fact-based methodologies in civil society work in Lebanon so as to support and develop a civic voice and a better impact towards better accountability and societal change in Lebanon.
Within this framework Lebanon Support focuses on information and knowledge sharing and management, production and delivery; as it is in within Lebanon Support’s beliefs, that information and knowledge are at the heart of developing adequate strategies and interventions to reduce existing vulnerabilities and marginalization in the country.
Background
Lebanon Support in collaboration with several partners is conducting several documentation activities under different thematics, in order to create a working knowledge-base for civil society actors in Lebanon, which will serve as a baseline for political, social and contextual analysis of the different conditions and situations that the country is facing.
Documentation activities include, but are not restricted to: Mapping of Security and Conflict Incidents, Human Rights violations, Social and Political Mobilizations, Profiling of Socio-Economic, Political and Aid Actors in Lebanon, among others.
For such reasons, Lebanon Support is seeking to employ a Documentation Officer, for a period of one year, with possible renewal of contract.
Responsibilities
- Follow up, validate and research news and information about the current security, political and social developments in Lebanon, and work on documenting the relevant selected events based on a provided criteria.
- Profile events, research their causes, motives, and their impact on the local, regional and National level.
- Profile relevant social, economic, political and aid actors in Lebanon based on the project’s criteria.
- Conduct interviews with actors, and community figures in different areas of the country in order to get a closer understanding and analysis of the situation and the parties involved, and the different dimensions of existing conflicts, and challenges to development, social peace, among others.
- Develop periodical context-reports and situation analysis documents based on the data collected through the different documentation projects.
- Manage, support and validate reports and documentation activities conducted by data entry officers as well as by partner-organizations.
Qualifications:
- University graduate with a degree in Journalism or Social Sciences, or other relevant domain.
- At least 2 to 3 years experience in similar job positions or in positions that included research and documentation activities.
- Excellent English and Arabic language skills, both in reading and writing.
- Good understanding of the Lebanese context, and of the regional context and developments.
- Good communication skills and good abilities to work with a team.
- Experience in working with online technologies, such as content management systems, collaborative tools, etc.
