Data Collectors (Roster)

CESVI is an Italian NGO founded in 1985 and headquartered in Bergamo, Italy. Committed to humanitarian aid, social justice, and sustainable development, CESVI operates in over 20 countries worldwide. CESVI INGO is present in Lebanon since 2001 and is responding to the emergency and economic crises including life-saving emergency assistance, Education in Emergencies (EiE) activities and initiatives promoting sustainable economic opportunities in favour of Lebanese and non-Lebanese families in BML, South and Beqaa governorates.    

CESVI is currently responding to the emergency and implementing: 

 - An intervention funded by the Italian Agency for Development and Cooperation (AICS) aiming at ensuring multisectoral assistance in Mount Lebanon, Beirut, Saida and Baalbek to people affected by the conflict through the distribution of essential needs and emergency psychosocial and medical support services. 

 - A private fund project aiming at ensuring basic needs for affected persons. 

CESVI has also limited activities under ongoing interventions due to the situation and will resume full operations as soon the conditions allow:  

 - An intervention funded by the Italian Agency for Development and Cooperation (AICS) aiming at ensuring the right to education and protection of children with and without disabilities and their families in Saida and Baalbek, by improving equal access to and participation in educational, protection and health pathways  

 - A PROMOSSO funded program that aims at reducing the negative impact on health and environment produced by pollution and contamination of air, soil, and water in Lebanon by developing models of environmental and social responsibility for MSMEs in Nabatye, Hasbaya, Saida and Tyre  

 - An AICS funded program that aims at promoting local development in the Union of Municipalities of Iqlim El Kharroub El Chamali, supporting MSMEs, cooperatives, and job seekers, through skills development, market access, financing via Social Impact Crediting schemes, enhancing municipal capacity and fostering public-private collaboration. 

 

CESVI is looking for data collectors to be responsible of conducting surveys on the field and over the phone in the framework of the above-mentioned interventions and needs assessment aimed at informing proposals writing covering different regions of the country. The data collectors will work under the supervision of the MEAL Manager and of the Project Managers.  

In the framework of the project implemented by CESVI, they will: 

  • Support in the conduction of Focus Group Discussions with community members, project beneficiaries and key informants in the above-mentioned areas.  
  • Work on the field through door-to-door data collection and, by collecting data through phone interviews. 
  • Report any incidents and challenges encountered to improve the quality of operations or approaches used. 
  • Report ant feedback and complaint received through the proper channels. 
  • Support MEAL activities on the field and remotely when needed. 
  • Support with emergency response activities (distributions of NFIs and Core relief items). 

In the framework of the needs assessments that will be launched with the purpose of informing proposal writing, they will: 

  • Support the outreach in the following governorates: BML, South (Saida district) and Baalbek/Hermel 
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative surveys, Key Informant Interviews and Focus Group Discussions. 

Data collectors will work under the supervision of the MEAL Coordinator and the Program Managers. The intervention areas and governorates might change according to the project needs. People residing in the mentioned areas are going to be prioritized in the selection process.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCES: 

  • Good knowledge with data collection tools, including: Kobo/ODK/ONA/survey123 or other relevant data collection tools 
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office package, especially Excel and Word; calendar, email; Spreadsheet 
  • Good experience in conducting surveys using quantitative and qualitative questionnaires such as key informants’ interviews, Pre-tests, Post-tests, Post-Distribution Monitoring questionnaires and Focus Group Discussions. 
  • Applicants should be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to establish positive relationships with people at all levels; to show sensitivity and integrity. 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 

  • A minimum of 1 year experience in relevant field with NGOs or private sector in international organizations and humanitarian settings, or in data collection; 
  • Relevant experience in conducting surveys (remotely and in-person) using quantitative and qualitative questionnaires, such as key informants’ interviews, pre-tests, post-tests, Post-Distribution Monitoring questionnaires and Focus Group Discussions.  

SKILLS:

  • Active Listening: be able to listen carefully and make informed decisions, without giving false expectations, and to relay valuable information while retaining the integrity and accuracy of information; 
  • Social consciousness: be socially aware of the socio-economic situation of their area and how it can affect their work; 
  • Cultural Sensitivity: be comfortable working with diverse communities, aware of power dynamics, and respectful of local norms; 
  • Interpersonal Skills: be able to build positive relationships with team members and community members and build trust; 
  • Problem-Solving Attitude: can identify opportunities and provide creative, locally grounded ideas; 
  • Team Collaboration: be able to work collaboratively with staff, beneficiaries, and other volunteers; 
  • Dynamic and interested in improvement: receptive to feedback on what may be changed or done better; 
  • Self-motivated and good team spirit; 
  • Fluent in Arabic and English.

Living in the areas of Saida, Baalbek/Hermel and BML is considered a strong asset.
