Soft Skills Volunteer

The integrated program targets vulnerable communities with economic inclusion activities through three main pathways:

(A) Building the capacity of SDCs leads to an improved delivery of livelihood-related services;

(B) Improving the technical and soft skills of vulnerable individuals to ensure increased participation in the private sector job market; and

(C) Improving the capacity of the private sector leads to growth and job creation.

Activities include providing livelihood-related resources, assets and renovations to each targeted SDC; offering TVET and soft skills training, paid apprenticeship programs and job-matching services to vulnerable individuals; and providing businesses development services and value chain support to MSMEs.

This assignment is solely focused on Outcome Pathway B of the Project: Improving the technical and soft skills of vulnerable individuals to ensure increased economic opportunity and reduce negative coping mechanisms and tensions, with specific focus on activity 2.1: Provide relevant market-based TVET and soft skills trainings to vulnerable individuals.

In the framework of Outcome Pathway B, Activity 2.1, CESVI is delivering trainings in Green Construction andDecorative Finishing, English and and IT in target areas. Each training includes a critical soft skills crash course to students who have completed technical and vocational trainings. 

In order to mark the completion of the course, the volunteer will deliver the soft skills crash course to the students in the assigned class locations in the district of Saida.

He/ She will be assigned the following tasks:

  • Acquire the soft skills training from the Beirut CESVI staff;
  • Visiting each of the training sites where beneficiaries are receiving their trainings to disseminate the soft skills crash course that he/she was trained on;
  • Provide an in-depth learning experience with constant engagement with the students through learning exercises provided by CESVI and through constant dialogue with students;
  • Communicate feedback to the Private Sector Engagement Officer related to student interest, commitment, understanding and engagement;
  • Contributing to feed CESVI’s database by providing basic information on individuals and possible areas of improvement for the soft skills provision techniques.  

Training Activities

  • Receive the training for the soft skills course from CESVI’s staff in Beirut;
  • Relay the course to students in an in-depth manner in each of CESVI’s training sites in the district of Saida;
  • Constantly engage students throughout the course by using the explanation exercises and keeping a productive dialogue running within the course;

Reporting Activities

  • Communicate students’ status in regards to the training provision, namely their understanding, interest and projected success upon employment after having received the training;
  • Report on challenges encountered, good practice and recommendations for the improvement of the soft skills curriculum.

Coordination

  • Provide CESVI’s staff with inputs about specific students, if necessary;
  • Coordinate with local stakeholders;
  • Coordinate with CESVI’s team to ensure efficiency.

Requirements

Knowledge/Experience

Volunteer must have a good knowledge of or familiarity with working as a volunteer or employee and have a background as a trainer or being within a training setting.

In addition, the volunteer must be skilled in the use of Spreadsheets, Word processing, calendar, e-mail and data entry. He/she should also be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to establish positive relationships with people at all levels; to show sensitivity and integrity.
