Communications Specialist

The Lebanon Civic Support Initiative (LCSI) project is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through a contract with Chemonics International.  The project provides cash and in-kind grants to a variety of institutions in Lebanon, including international and Lebanese non-governmental organizations (NGOs), community based organizations, or informal groups, to implement project activities.   F. Specific Duties & Responsibilities   Responsibilities of the communications specialist will include but are not limited to:   Provide editing on communications materials including press releases, brochures, success stories, and fact sheets Assist in preparation of monthly and annual reports, as well as other reporting requirements Write background, objectives, and activity summary and justification for grants for the Activity Database in coordination with Information Specialist Write success stories, ensuring stories capture results and impact, and include quotes as well as photo with caption Conduct periodic field visits to attend projecte events, interview beneficiaries, and collect impact data and quotes to inform various communications products Attend weekly grants clearance meetings Work closely with project development specialists to capture impact data and help ensure details are updated in Database Assist program staff, and grantees if necessary, with report writing, particularly producing an executive summary that captures results and impact of grantees monthly activities As needs dictate, the Chief of Party may assign ad hoc special tasks and duties to the Communication Specialist as required to ensure the overall efficient implementation of the program’s communication activities.   G.        Job Qualifications   Bachelor’s degree Experience in writing, communications, journalism, or public relations preferred Prior experience working with NGOs and/or local communities and/or youth groups preferred Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form in both Arabic and English Excellent English writing and editing skills Ability to effectively use computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience using design software is a plus Ability to work in a professional and collaborative manner with fellow staff members, visitors, partner institutions including international and local NGOs, governmental entities, support organizations, and the general public Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, to prioritize multiple work assignments in an extremely fast-paced environment, to meet deadlines, and to exercise good, professional judgment that reflects positively on the image and communicates the established program message
