Canceled - Engineer (WASH and Shelter) - LEBANESE NATIONALS

CISP has been active in the Lebanese humanitarian sector since 1996 and has a particularly strong track record in supporting local communities including Lebanese population as well as Palestinian and Syrian refugees. Since then more than 50 projects have been implemented with funding of the European Commission (ECHO, EC), UN agencies (UNHCR, UNICEF, OCHA, UNRWA), Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Italian Cooperation.

CISP activities aim to support the most needed Lebanese in areas lacking of basic services and without access to economic opportunities (Mainly in the North and in the South). Moreover, the humanitarian assistance support Syrian and Palestinian Refugees through WASH, shelter, NFIs, infrastructures rehabilitation & civil works, supply of equipment and materials, human resources training, social and educational activities, etc.

 

The engineer has the operational responsibility of the implementation of the WASH and Shelter activities of the project. He/she acts under the supervision of the Field Coordinator and reports to the Project Coordinator.

 

The main responsibilities of the Engineer include the following:

  • Identification and needs assessments
  • Compilation of BOQs with specifications and drawings/details
  • Elaboration of cost estimations for the proposed works;
  • Planning and monitoring the WASH and Shelter related activities;
  • Revision and elaboration of technical documents related to the implementation of WASH and Shelter’s activities;
  • Monitoring and supervision of the implementation of the works;
  • Checking of all the materials to be used for the implementation of the works  before their installation, in order to ensure they correspond to what established by the work contracts;
  • Production of relevant documents to certify progresses of works in support of release of payments and/or acceptance of works;
  • Coordinate within the team and with Contractors to solve any problem related to the implementation of works, eventually amending the scope of works, the design or the drawings/details if necessary;
  • Participating in elaboration of Tender documents, offers requests and any other documents related to the execution of works and/or supplies foreseen in the project;
  • Participating in the evaluation of the offers received within CISP procurement procedures, in accordance with the award criteria listed in the solicitation documents;
  • Collecting and forwarding any other information requested by CISP Project Coordinator, especially data and information needed for Monitoring and for Reports;
  • Preparing and submitting progress reports on regular basis and when requested to the Project Coordinator, in collaboration with Data Manager;
  • Organization of information and documents into files to be updated regularly and to be shared with the Project Coordinator for correct archiving;
  •  Represent CISP towards partners, stakeholders and contractors in the limit of the hereby described mandate;
  • Attend project related meetings;
  •  Any other task or duty that could be requested by the Management to support general management of CISP activities and offices.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Civil engineering;
  • Professional experience with minimum of 1 year of collaboration with NGO(s) in emergency shelter and WASH interventions;
  • Good knowledge of English;
  • Good knowledge of Office package and AutoCad;
  • Lebanese nationality;
  • Valid driving license and good driving skills;
  • Team Spirit

  • Good communication and mediation skills;
  • Problem solving.
