Junior Accountant

 

Areas Of Responsibility

The Junior Accountant duties will include:

Day-to-day accounting: Update CodeBrave's Nominal Ledger and Cash Book on a daily basis. Close the accounts at the end of the month. Perform detailed review of expense reports as to ensure that all back-up documents and approvals are available prior to processing subsequent payments. Make sure that all supporting documents are filled in an organised manner.

Bank reconciliation: Prepare the bank reconciliation each month

Supplier/customer reconciliation: prepare supplier reconciliation on quarterly basis

Financial reporting: Support in the preparation of quarterly financial reports to present to CodeBrave’s board at quarterly meetings

Financial controls: Ensure that basic accounting operations are sustained in the office while also ensuring project accounting policies are followed. Work with the Board Treasurer to coordinate and implement proper protocols to ensure the office is operating under consistent financial practices.

Financial monitoring: Assist with ad hoc financial monitoring and analysis of grant budgets and actual versus obligated disbursements and financial transactions as needed.

Payroll & tax: Ensure all necessary taxes are withheld from applicable payments. Track VAT expenditures and ensure forms are submitted to the Tax Advisor. Processes payment of vendors and check preparation.

Teamwork: Use strong interpersonal skills to effectively work with all staff and ensure financial policies are followed.

Office management: Manage payments relating to the office (cleaner, generator, rent, etc.) and ensure the office is equipped with necessary supplies.

Inventory management: Manage CodeBrave’s inventory of tech equipment and ensure the moving of items is recorded in the log and inventory. 

Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Operations Director.

 

Skills Required

Adaptable, capable and personable

Strong spoken and written English language skills

University degree in Finance or Accounting

Minimum one year of professional experience in accounting or finance management

Strong accounting skills and experience, including management of the general ledger, journal entries, payroll, payables and balance sheet.

USAID or donor experience preferred

Advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel.

Effective verbal and written communication, multi-tasking, organisational and prioritisation skills. Excellent oral and written English skills required; proficiency in Arabic is required.

 

Salary

600 USD (fresh) per month for 50% part-time.

 

References

Two references will be required in the final stage.
