PSS Facilitator - South Lebanon

1. BACKGROUND

Compassion Protestant Society (CPS) is implementing a five-month pilot project, focusing on adolescent psychosocial wellbeing and school resilience in South Lebanon. The project will deliver a group-based, trauma-informed psychosocial support program for Grades 10 and 11 students, along with complementary staff care and student-led environmental initiatives.

To deliver these sessions effectively, CPS seeks to recruit facilitators who can lead weekly group sessions, engage students in safe and supportive dialogue, and ensure fidelity to program methodology and quality standards.

 

 

2. ROLE OVERVIEW

The Facilitators will be responsible for:

  • Leading psychosocial group sessions (approximately 5 groups meeting weekly).
  • Building trust and rapport with students while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Ensuring the culturally aware, trauma-sensitive and inclusive delivery of the curriculum.
  • Identifying students in need of additional support and referring them through established referral channels.
  • Participating in pre-project training and weekly debrief sessions with CPS staff.
  • Supporting light monitoring tasks (attendance, brief session reports, student feedback).

 

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend a 4-day facilitator training on the program curriculum (August 2025).
  • Facilitate 5–6 sessions per week (between September–November) as per groups schedule.
  • Collaborate with CPS and school staff to coordinate group logistics and referrals.
  • Ensure all students, including those with learning or communication needs, are supported during sessions.
  • Submit weekly attendance lists and short reports, flagging any safeguarding or psychosocial concerns immediately.
  • Participate in midline and endline reflections, providing insights for program improvement.

 

4. REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in social studies or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating group sessions (with youth, community groups, or psychosocial support contexts).
  • Solid understanding of PSS principles, gender and age sensitivity, and group dynamics (formal training and experience is an advantage).
  • Strong context-sensitivity and cultural awareness, with an understanding of the social, religious, and cultural dynamics in Saida and/or Nabatiyeh.
  • Ability to create safe, inclusive, and respectful spaces and manage group dynamics with empathy and professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in Arabic (English is an advantage).
  • Commitment to CPS’s safeguarding principles and willingness to sign the Code of Conduct.
  • Experience working with adolescents in school settings.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed or resilience-based facilitation methods.
  • Basic report-writing skills.

 

5. DELIVERABLES

  • Attend all scheduled trainings and supervision meetings.
  • Successfully facilitate weekly student group sessions as per the schedule (Sep–Nov).
  • Submit session attendance logs, brief reflections, and any incident reports.
  • Participate in the final program reflection and lessons-learned workshop (December 2025).

 

6. DURATION & LEVEL OF EFFORT

The role is part-time and session-based, covering:

  • Training and preparation: 4 full days (August)
  • Session delivery: 5-6 sessions per week, Sep–Nov (aligned with school schedules)
  • Reflections and reporting: once a week, post-sessions
  • Payment will be structured per session delivered, with additional stipends for training.
  • Role is renewable based on performance and funding availability.
