Protection Team Leader

Job Summary The purpose of the protection team leader, with the guidance of the Protection Programme Manager, is to oversee the development, implementation and management of Concern’s protection strategy in Akaar North Lebanon.  Reporting to the Protection Programme Manager, the team leader will be the focal person for the organization for protection and will coordinate the team in the delivery of our strategy at field level.   Duties and Responsibilities   Develop the Protection programme activities In collaboration with the Protection Programme Manager and the target group, lead the team in developing a protection strategy which addresses barriers and challenges to the target group meeting their protection needs Under the guidance of the Protection Programme Manager finalise the protection strategy, with the participation and input of the team and other relevant stakeholders Take a lead role in developing innovative protection activities and systems in accordance with the protection strategy (including but not limited to: community-based protection, awareness raising and training; engaging men in addressing gender based violence, youth and child focused protection activities) Prepare comprehensive gender-awareness and child protection training workshops for all Concern staff Coordinate documentation of the programme activities, analyse information and produce reports as necessary on the main findings and trends;     Coordinate the protection programme activities: Under the guidance of the Protection Programme Manager, oversee the implementation of the protection strategy Develop weekly, monthly and quarterly work plans with team members and the Protection Programme Manager Ensure the Protection team have the required resources to implement the strategy Develop and adopt innovative approaches which enable beneficiaries to participate in the implementation of the protection activities. In collaboration with the protection team, implement comprehensive and gender-awareness and child protection training workshops for all Concern staff In collaboration with the Protection Programme Manager, develop a monitoring and evaluation system for the protection programme which contributes to continual learning and programme quality In collaboration with the Protection Programme Manager, ensure that the programme is being implemented in accordance with objectives agreed with the donor, Concerns’ policies and best practices. Ensure good coordination of activities within Concern and with other stakeholders to avoid duplication of work to maximize efficiency and impact   Reporting and information management Ensure that Concerns reporting commitments are met (including weekly, monthly, quarterly reports as necessary (in accordance with Concern’s systems and procedures and those of donors) In collaboration with the Protection Programme Manager, develop and maintain record keeping systems of Concern’s Protection activities for reporting and continuous learning In collaboration with the Programme Manager, assist in drafting project proposals   Representation and coordination Represent Concern in interagency fora as necessary, and assigned by the Protection Programme Manager Liaise with all other stakeholders as necessary in coordination with the Protection Programme Manager   Support and manage staff reporting to this position With the guidance of the Protection Programme Manager, manage, supervise and train the teams and casuals involved in Protection activities. Provide regular support and feedback to post-holders reporting to this role Undertake probation and annual performance reviews frankly and in timely manner Ensure sub-ordinates are clear about their role, expectations and all relevant policies and procedures Support the professional development of subordinates Undertake joint work planning Facilitate communication flows between subordinates and senior management   To adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct.   To support and promote the standards outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct to their team, partner organisations and beneficiaries, and be committed to providing a safe working environment.    To contribute to the establishment of preventive measures to reduce the potential for abuse in Concern programme (as per P4 section 6)   Support Concern’s work in Lebanon by undertaking other tasks as appropriate and required       Person Specification: Essential: Degree in the social sciences – Psychology, Social Work etc Fluency in English and Arabic Demonstrated experience working in the field of protection Knowledge, skills, and experience in participatory methods for community development and mobilization Excellent communication skills, including training and facilitation skills Demonstrated ability to lead a team Experience of working as part of a team Excellent Information and Communication Technology skills Thorough awareness of gender issues and GBV; commitment to gender equality Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health Knowledge of child development and providing services to distressed children Diplomacy and assertiveness; the ability to confront and discuss sensitive issues with respect and care.
