Junior Engineer

COOPI Lebanon, in the framework of a project funded by the Italian Development Cooperation Agency (AICS) and in partnership with the Italian NGO ARCS- ARCI Culture Solidali, is recruiting a full-time Engineer based in Kfaraabida - Batroun to be involved in the implementation of an EDUCATION project in Tripoli and Koura, aiming to assist the Syrian Refugees and the Affected Populations in North Lebanon.    Main areas of responsibility (in coordination with COOPI Project Manager and COOPI Senior Engineer): Supporting COOPI to the achievement of the Expected Results of the EDUCATION project for Syrian Refugees and Affected Populations to be implemented in North Lebanon; Contact to and co-operation with relevant local authorities; Ongoing strategic planning and development of the EDUCATION project to be implemented in North Lebanon;   Specific duties: The Engineer collaborates with COOPI project manager and senior engineer in the implementation of the EDUCATION project in terms of: The Engineer is involved in the co-ordination with all actors related to the implementation of the project; The Engineer is responsible for documentation of all conducted activities; The Engineer is responsible to follow all the instructions and the pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job; Other duties as may be assigned by the Project Manager and senior engineer and agreed upon. Collecting all the needed data and/or information related to the projects; Performing detailed needs assessment of water and sanitation situation in the selected area, identifying beneficiaries and recommending appropriate interventions (e.g. rehabilitation works, water networks, supply and installation of water tanks; etc…) to improve their living conditions; Finalizing all the needed agreements among the concerned actors Design the Rehabilitation interventions (Drawings, Technical Specification and Bill of Quantity) according to the assessed needs; Cooperate with the technical officers of the local partner and the enrolled consultants during the needs assessment and technical design phases; Procurement activities (including Technical Specifications and Bill of Quantities for supply and works contracts); Performing timely supervision visits to all project sites under construction to ensure that works are done according to the design and mistakes are promptly corrected and a report made to COOPI Project Manager and senior engineer. Organisation and monitoring of some activities in the building sites, including detailed needs assessment; Creating a database to locate the beneficiary households and the exact needs for the most vulnerable; Checking of each material that have to be utilized for the implementation of the works before their installation in order to ensure the following up of the technical specifications of the works provided by COOPI and to strictly follow the COOPI Project Manager and senior engineer advices; Preparing weekly progress reports (e.g. measurements of the performed works);   Qualifications and skills: University degree in civil engineering or architecture Work sites experience Excellent computer skills Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic languages, both oral and written Valid Driving License and ability to drive both automatic/manual cars Previous experience in working with national/international NGOs is an advantage    Personal qualities: Ability to work both independently and as a team member Excellent communications skills Ability to work in different cultural environments
