Protection Monitoring Officer

COOPI is a non-governmental, international humanitarian organization working for global solidarity in 25 countries throughout the world. COOPI is working since 2012 in North Lebanon working with Syrian refugees, as well as Lebanese communities and managing projects supported by international donors and cooperating with local authorities,

General responsibilities:

The Protection Monitoring Officer will work in the framework of a wider program financed by the Italian Cooperation Agency (AICS) aiming at monitoring the status of pupils and their relatives in order to identify cases at risk of dropout and sensitize and support families with ad hoc activities in 3 primary and secondary public schools (2 in Tripoli and 1 in Bterram Koura).

S/he will also coordinate in a remote way similar activities to be implemented in 1 school in Hermel area.

Specific tasks and responsibilities

  • Coordinate social workers daily field work;
  • Monitor schools’ambience to allow for the timely identification of vulnerable and at risk pupils and their relatives;
  • Provide case management, insuring that the specific needs of individuals are addressed to the existing referral system in the area by the development of individually tailored plans, including counseling, family or community mediation and follow-up sessions.
  • Liaise with, and make referrals to, other agencies;
  • Provide information dissemination about the risk of drop out and available humanitarian services;
  • Represent COOPI in a professional manner in Education Working Groups and insure good cooperation with local partners and other relevant actors;
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams, trainings and meetings regarding, for example, GBV and early marriage;
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports, document and share lessons learned and best practices;
  • Assist in performing other tasks as requested by the Project Manager.

Profile and requirements

  • University degree in Psychology or other relevant psychosocial field;
  • At least 3 years’ experience in psychosocial and/or child protection sectors;
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, good written and spoken English;
  • Average IT skills: Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Sensitivity in dealing with refugees and IDPs;
  • Accuracy in collecting and analyzing data;
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivation and strong team spirit
  • Professional behavior in representing COOPI when dealing with external actors;
  • Reliability, proactivity and ability to carry out tasks independently, truthfulness and accuracy in reporting to supervisors;
  • Capacity to apply gender, ethnic and environmental sensibilities to programme activities;
  • Commitment to the values, vision and mission of COOPI;
  • Commitment and respect of the COOPI code of conduct;
  • Familiarity with Tripoli region.

  • Motivation to work for a civil society organization on social issues;
