Remedial Teacher
Purpose and Objective of the Role:
The purpose of the remedial support teacher role is to ensure the continued enrollment and participation of refugee and vulnerable host community children in education, by providing targeted support to students at risk of dropping out. The teacher will also play a key role in identifying and referring child protection cases, while promoting a holistic approach to students’ physical, emotional and intellectual well-being.

Responsibilities:
- Develops, prepares, and delivers comprehensive lesson plans and instructional materials tailored to address the different learning abilities (grades 1 to 6)
- Designs and creates diverse learning resources and materials, including worksheets and activities
- Addresses different learning styles, including visual, auditory (or aural), kinesthetic (or hands-on), and reading and writing learners
- Applies and adjusts teaching methods and differentiated instruction strategies to cater to children’s learning needs and interests, using active learning techniques.
- Attend and actively participate in all mandatory trainings
- Maintain a child-friendly and safe teaching/learning environment in the classroom while adopting a holistic approach to teaching (physical, emotional, and intellectual wellbeing)
- Tracks students’ attendance, follows up closely with centre coordinators on children at risk of dropping out and maintain a record of the actions taken
- Utilizes and protects the educational equipment, such as materials, books, and other learning tools
- Foster a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation, self-confidence, and collaboration among peers.
- Identifies and refers cases related to child protection and safeguarding
- Collects necessary data for required assessments (Pre/Post Assessments)
- Ensures timely submission of project records, such as registration sheets, attendance logs, and evaluation documents, to the center coordinator
- Conducts formative assessments to monitor children’s progress and provide timely individualized support
- Ensures classrooms are safe, secure, and inclusive, catering to the diverse needs of children, including those with disabilities
- Adheres to all organizational policies, including child safeguarding and code of conduct
Qualifications and requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject area (Foreign Language, Arabic, Mathematics and Science), along with a teaching certification or license, or relevant experience in the field.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in formal education or teaching, preferably in cycles 1 and 2.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Familiarity with the creation of assessment tools and strategies for evaluating student performance.
- Strong ability to work effectively under pressure and in challenging environments
- Fluency in Arabic and French or English Languages, both written and spoken
