Social Worker

Background on COOPI COOPI is a non-governmental, international humanitarian organization working for global solidarity in 25countries throughout the world. COOPI is working since 2012 in North Lebanon working with Syrian refugees, as well as Lebanese communities and managing projects supported by international donors and cooperating with local authorities, COOPI is working in the following domain of interventions: WASH Education Livelihoods (Cash for Work) Shelter Protection   General responsibilities: The Social worker will work in the framework of a wider program financed by Italian Cooperation aiming at monitoring the status of pupils and their relatives in order to identify cases at risk of dropout and sensitize and support families with ad hoc activities in 3 primary and secondary public schools (2 in Tripoli and 1 in Bterram Koura).   Specific tasks and responsibilities Facilitate the implementation of the projects’ protection activities (particularly data collection and analysis, awareness raising sessions with mothers and other relatives, community mobilization) under the supervision of the Protection Monitoring Officer, ensuring smooth exchange between the child protection team, beneficiaries and the community and providing technical support as needed. Contribute to establishing and implementing operational work plans, setting clear targets and activity plans per activity and project site. Communicate the targets, projects objectives and activity plans clearly to partners, officers, parents and children, ensuring they are well understood. Liaise on a daily basis with partners, community and COOPI involved staff to guarantee the smooth operation of the activities. Work directly in the field with children, families and other stakeholders of the activities locations. Provide information and advice beneficiaries on existing social services, referring them to partners when required. Assist in the organization and implementation of awareness sessions for children, adolescents, parents and communities at large. Facilitate, collect and report information regarding the overall situation of the Syrian refugee children and their families in the community, with specific attention paid to the projects targeted children and objectives. Inform the Protection Monitoring Officer about any difficulty met in the activities implementation. Ensure a strict adherence to the principles of Child Protection at all times, including respect for confidentiality and a child centered approach and to act in the best interests of the child. Produce timely reports for internal use on the activities in each site/school, highlighting challenges, best practices and lessons learnt. Ensure that data is accurately collected on a weekly and monthly basis. Ensure accurate data entry Regularly visit project sites to ensure that the community at large are appropriately supported and that qualitative and quantitative projects objectives are achieved. Assist in performing other tasks as requested by the Protection Monitoring Officer or by the Project Manager Attend meeting with the Protection Monitoring Officer, the Project Manager and the whole COOPI staff   Profile and requirements Bachelor degree in social work, social animation or any relevant degree; At least two years’ experience in working with children and community mobilisation, preferably in an (I) NGO environment; Understanding of national development issues, in particular in relation to children and protection, and government institutions, particularly the public school; Strength in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, good written and spoken English; Average IT skills: Microsoft Word and Excel; Self-motivation and strong team spirit; Accuracy in collecting and analyzing data; Commitment to the values, vision and mission of COOPI; Commitment and respect of the COOPI code of conduct; Familiarity with Tripoli region.

The foreseen duration of the contract is eight months including one month trial period.
