Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and approve irrigation systems design including but not limited to crop water requirements, irrigation scheduling, pipe and pump sizing, use of water saving equipment such as tensiometers, use of PV, weather stations, etc.
- Check the BoQs submitted by successful applicants after award and prior to implementation for technical compliance and provide opinion on price estimates for proposed projects
- Conduct site visits to selected awardees and verify equipment proper installation and operation
- Other duties as required by supervisor or COP.
Days Map
WSC expects at least 70 person-days of work to cover the above technical support over a period of one year. The Level of Effort (LoE) is expected to be divided as follows:
Activity 1: Review Grantees' Design - 30 days
Activity 2: Verification of BOQs & Pricing - 20 days
Activity 3: Site Verification - 20 days
Qualifications:
- Masters in agricultural engineering with a focus on irrigation
- At least 10 years’ experience in designing irrigation systems, reviewing them, and providing constructive feedback
- Experienced in pipe and pump sizing, crop water requirements, and preparation of relevant tenders and BOQs
- Proven experience and familiarity with local market supplies and pricing
- Experienced in conducting field visits and supervising irrigation installations
- Familiar with water conservation and irrigation markets in Lebanon
