Scope of Work - Communications Assistant
Background:
The Lebanon Industry Value Chain Development - LIVCD is a five year program funded by the United States Agency for International Development- USAID, and implemented under the leadership of Development Alternatives, Inc. (DAI). Its overall objective is to improve Lebanon’s economic stability and food security, especially in rural areas, and decrease rural migration. LIVCD Project aims to increase the competitiveness of several value chains, and expand the number of Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises that can compete in selected markets, improve linkages between those firms and other actors throughout the value chains, increase the gross value of products and services in local and export markets, and expand exports. The project will intervene in several sectors, in particular Floriculture, Grapes, Olive Oil, Apple, Pears, Processed Foods, Honey, Rural Tourism, Cherries and Avocados. LIVCD also works on cross-cutting components that have linkages with value chain activities, such as Access to Finance, Communications, Capacity Building, and Market Intelligence.
Responsibilities:
As part of its effort to raise public awareness on project’s interventions, and facilitate information sharing among stakeholders, LIVCD is opening a Communications Assistant position, reporting to the Communications and Knowledge Management Specialist. Tasks include the following:
Reporting: Preparing weekly reports of activities, and supporting the team in the preparation of quarterly reports.
Conducting interviews in the field with the project’s beneficiaries, in order to write success stories about the project’s achievement
Need-based translation of several types of documents (English/Arabic) such as success stories, press releases and other communications material.
Coordinating the preparation of audiovisual and printed material: Documentaries, banners, and brochures
Preparing and editing content for a project website and ensuring a regular presence on social media.
Editing project’s newsletters
Managing and populating the project’s library of reference documents and collecting relevant publications through media monitoring.
Other duties as assigned by the Communications and Knowledge Management Specialist
Requirements
Two to three years of professional experience in the private sector or non-governmental organizations. Previous experience with USAID or other donor project is a plus.
Excellent writing skills in both English and Arabic
Ability to work as a team member in a professional and reactive environment.
Excellent use of Office pack, knowledge of Photoshop is a plus.
Applicants must be Lebanese citizens – willingness to travel throughout Lebanon.
Duration: Three to six months full time with possibilities to extend.
