Packaging/standards Specialist

BACKGROUND The Lebanon Industry Value Chain Development (LIVCD) is a five year program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented under the leadership of Development Alternatives, Inc. (DAI).  LIVCD Project aims to increase the competitiveness of selected value chains, expand the number of Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises that can compete in selected markets, improve linkages between those firms and other actors throughout the value chain, increase the gross value of products and services in local and export markets, and expand exports. Development Alternatives Inc. is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Packaging/Standards Specialist on the USAID LIVCD Project for a period of 4.5 years. OBJECTIVES The Packaging/Standards Specialist will assist in developing fully functional value chains by providing technical assistance in improving packaging and standards to meet end market demand. S/he will work with program beneficiaries to improve packaging based on market data and information, and will advise program beneficiaries in developing strategies to improve food safety and meet international guidelines for food quality standards. Required Qualifications:- A min. of 3 years experience in donor-funded programs with strong preference for USAID experience, private sector or other entities; - A masters degree in Business, management, marketing, or similar field is a plus;- Excellent command of English and Arabic; proven capacity to engage in verbal and written communication
