Utility Coordinator - Long Term Position
North Lebanon Water Establishment
Background
The USAID-funded Lebanon Water Project (LWP) is a five year project that works to increase reliable and sustainable access to potable water for Lebanese citizens; improve water management practices and enhance the efficiency and sustainability of public water utilities, while raising awareness on sustainable water use practices and promote better water governance to help assure long-term protection of Lebanon’s water resources.
General Objective
The Utility Coordinator will assist the LWP team to support and improve management capacity at the regional water establishments. S/he will be based at the North Lebanon Water Establishment (NLWE) in Tripoli to assist and support the LWP in the strategy development and engagement with the NLWE and provide onsite technical assistance.
Responsibilities
Provide management assistance and advice to NLWE management team.
Assist in identifying interventions and activities that can be supported by the LWP with the NLWE.
Work with the LWP team to achieve the strategic goals identified in the LWP Work Plan.
Monitor the development and implementation of LWP activities in close coordination with NLWE and LWP staff.
Develop good working relationship with NLWE staff, ensuring coordination and information sharing between the NLWE and LWP teams.
Coordinate and report to LWP management team all activities of donors working with the NLWE.
Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in water engineering, water and/or environmental management, or other related fields; advanced degree in the above listed areas preferred.
Previous experience in water utility management an asset.
Computer literacy and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
Experience working with donor funded programs.
Demonstrated communications, writing, and presentation skills.
Strong teamwork skills, as well as effective cross-cultural interpersonal skills.
Fluency in Arabic and English.
