Background
DCA Lebanon has worked in mine action since 2007. In addition to reducing the harm from explosion, clearance activities also release contaminated land for socio-economic development in the context of rising demands from the local and refugee population. In 2012, DCA began implementing humanitarian and development projects through local partners and scaled up its operations in 2021 due to the deepening crisis in the country.

Role
The objective of this position is to ensure the safe, reliable, and timely transportation of patients and medical personnel in compliance with all saefty protocols and organizational policies, while maintaining the ambulance in optimal working conditions. The immedciate workplace will be in South Lebanon.
Responsibilities
- Attend work on time and in good health, wearing the DCA uniform.
- Be accountable for the use of the vehicle.
- Comply with DCA policies on transport of unauthorized passengers not related to the DCA program and/or DCA operations.
- Ensure that the Ambulance is always clean.
- Ensure that the vehicle is equipped in accordance with the driver’s manual at all times.
- Ensure that all passengers have fastened their seat belts while driving.
- Respect the speed limits set by DCA (40 km/h in urban areas and 80 km/h outside urban areas); however, not faster than the road conditions allow.
- Ensure that fuel levels are never less than ¾, that all vehicles are fitted with one inflated spare tire, and that they are always in proper roadworthy condition.
- Carry out all other duties requested by the Site Supervisor.
- Report any malfunctions to the Senior Procurement & Logistics Officer.
- Perform daily maintenance according to the driver’s manual.

- التّأكُّد من تجهيز سيارة الإسعاف وفقًا لدليل السائق في جميع الأوقات.
- التّأكُّد من أن جميع الركاب قد ربطوا أحزمة الأمان في مقاعدهم أثناء القيادة.
- احترام حدود السرعة التي تحددها المنظمة (٤٠ كم/ساعة في مناطق المدينة و٨٠ كم/ساعة خارج مناطق المدينة؛ في جميع الأحوال، عدم تجاوز السُّرعة المُحدَّدة على الطُّرُقات.
- التّأكُّد من أنَّ مُستويات الوقود لا تقلُّ أبدًا عن ثلاثة أرباع، وأنَّ جميع المركبات مُجهَّزة بإطار احتياطي منفوخ وأنَّها دائمًا في حالة صالحة للسّير على الطُّرُق.
- تنفيذ جميع المهام الأُخرى الّتي يَطلُبُها مُشرِف المَوقِع.
- الإبلاغ عن أي أعطال إلى المسؤول الأقدم للمُشتريات واللّوجستيّات.
- إجراء الصيانة اليومية وفقًا لدليل السائق
Background
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as an ambulance driver or a similar role is required.
- Experience in responding to emergencies and providing assistance to individuals in need of medical care, particularly in the context of mine action or other hazardous environments, is highly desirable.
- Possession of a valid and appropriate driver's license for ambulance vehicles.
- Proficiency in performing daily maintenance of the ambulance, including regular checks and minor repairs, as outlined in the driver's manual.
- Familiarity with and adherence to safety protocols and regulations for transporting individuals, especially in potentially hazardous areas related to mine action.
- A minimum educational requirement is a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in first aid and basic life support is essential to provide immediate assistance in emergencies.
- Proficiency in Arabic is essential for effective communication with local authorities and individuals in need of assistance.
- Proficiency in English is beneficial, especially for communication within an international organization.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with relevant authorities, medical personnel, and other team members during emergencies.
- Strong organizational skills to account for vehicle use, fuel levels, and equipment readiness.
- Attention to detail to ensure that the ambulance is clean, equipped, and roadworthy at all times.
- Ability to respond promptly to changing situations and emergencies, making quick decisions while prioritizing safety.
- Willingness to work closely with the Site Supervisor and other team members, taking direction and collaborating effectively.
Reporting
- Regular reports on the performance and services will be submitted to the Team Site Supervisor on a weekly basis.
- Regular check-ins and feedback sessions will be conducted to ensure effective coordination and support.
- 6-month contract; renewal is based on performance.
