Adolescent Girls Volunteer

We are looking for a highly qualified candidate who can fit the Adolescent Girls Volunteer position in Tripoli office. Who are we?  DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan.  DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.  For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.dk   About the job  Under the direct supervision of the PSS Officer, the adolescent girls volunteer is responsible for supporting the adolescent girls assistants in the organization and provision of structured activities in static (women centers) and mobile safe spaces to adolescent girls and their caregivers. She/he will be in charge of identifying and responding to the needs of adolescent girls, their caregivers and their respective children in the communities identified by the Adolescent girl’s assistants, in order to prevent their exposure to early marriage and strengthen their positive coping skills.    Duties  • Collaborate with caseworkers and other PSS team members to ensure GBV responses are taking into account specific needs and vulnerabilities of adolescent girls and youth-friendly communication techniques are used  • Facilitate life-skills activities targeting adolescent girls and their caregivers based on the DRC’s adolescent girls, engaging men, and parenting skills curricula  • Provide regular updates to PSS Officer, on common threats and needs of adolescent girls to inform program design and advocacy initiatives  • Participate in assessment exercises to identify the settlements of most vulnerable adolescent girls in the catchment areas of the centre-based and mobile activities and support the development of baseline surveys;   • Participate in community safety planning exercises to ensure involvement of adolescent girls and their caregivers   About you  To be successful in this role you must have experience working in association, NGOs with adolescents and/or experience working as or with animators;  You should also have very good communication skills withchildren, youth, caregiver, and previous experience in community engagement and mobilization.   We offer  An interesting volunteering job in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract until September 2016, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from the mid June 2016 and be willing and able to work in Tripoli.  Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Volunteering for National staff.
