Area Protection Manager

The main focus of today’s efforts in Lebanon is to help the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, who have fled across the border to find protection from the conflict in their homeland. DRC is simultaneously maintaining the efforts toward the vulnerable groups of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.dk About the jobThe PM reports directly to the Area Program Manager-Bekaa. The PM has the overall responsibility for leading, coordinating and overseeing DRC protection activities in Bekaa area. Represents DRC Protection before relevant donors at field level; Represents DRC in the protection working and sub working groups, INGO forums and interagency planning workshops. Co-chair the relevant working groups when needed. The PM is leading DRC protection activities in coordination with the national Protection Coordinator and the Area Program Manager-Bekaa. The PM has frequent contacts with representatives of donors involved in protection (specifically UNICEF and UNHCR). Duties• Recruit, train and supervise protection staff; • Ensure the implementation of protection programming and protection-related grants, including appropriate and timely spending of grants to achieve program goals, grants reporting contributions, use and distribution of supplies and resources; • Ensure the submission of timely, accurate and well-written donor reports and other reporting requirements of protection programming (incl. Donors’ reports and Activity info);• Ensure that implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools and report on problems in the implementation of the program; • Contribute in grants’ proposals to secure follow on or expansion funding for the protection program as per identified needs and in line with the Protection strategy; • Develop comprehensive and tailored capacity building plans for CP and GBV staff and implementing partners based on respective needs and ensuring quality services;• Actively participate in field-working groups and work closely with other sectors • Represents DRC Protection before relevant donors at field level, including UNICEF and UNHCR About youTo be successful in this role you must have:Required qualifications• University degree or higher education relevant to human rights: preferably in law, social sciences or humanitarian aid;• At least 3 years of proven international experience Protection, advocacy work, and refugee law;• Working experience in conflict affected and fragile states in (emergency) psychosocial support projects;• Understands rights and protection issues of refugees, children and women;• Ability to organize and facilitate capacity-building initiatives, including trainings for colleagues and partners;• Familiarity with community-based protection programming and ability to incorporate lessons learned from similar experiences;• Proven communication, interpersonal, representation, negotiation, promotion and diplomacy skills,• Proven analytical and writing skills;• Political and cultural awareness;• Ability to quickly develop good insight and understanding of the conflict, the human rights situation and the political environment of the program country;• Fluency in the English language, both written and verbal. French and Arabic is an asset;• Above average computer literacy, and holder of a valid driver’s licence. We offerAn interesting job in one of the world’s best NGOs.
